linkPolitico is running this article " Republicans brewing Russian scandal to target greens" It seems some members of Congress are convinced the Russian Government is funding and has been funding "green" protests in this country and these members of Congress want the Treasury Department to investigate. I honestly don't understand why the GOP thinks there is always "someone" behind the protests. That it's unthinkable that people, on their own, band together to voice their opposition to an issue. From the article... "Republicans are trying to conjure up a Russian scandal they can get behind. GOP House members and at least one Trump Cabinet member are pushing years-old allegations from conservative activists that Russia has funneled money to U.S. environmental groups to oppose fracking. The story has reappeared in conservative circles in recent weeks — a respite, perhaps, from the steady drip-drip of news reports about dealings between Russians and President Donald Trump’s inner circle. Allegations have circulated for years that Moscow has sought to discourage European countries from developing their own natural gas supplies as an alternative to Russian fuel. And conservatives have sought to extend those concerns to the U.S. — though there’s little but innuendo to base them on. But the rumors got new life in late June, when House Science Chairman Lamar Smith and fellow Texas Republican Rep. Randy Weber asked Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin to investigate whether the Kremlin is bankrolling green campaigns against the fracking technology that helped the U.S. overtake Russia in gas production." This just boggles the mind.

I will never understand the Republican embrace (in recent years) of ignorance, superstition, paranoia, and just plain stupidity.

I will never understand the Republican embrace (in recent years) of ignorance, superstition, paranoia, and just plain stupidity. Me either. Russia must have dirt on a lot of Republicans.

Umm. I'm opposed to fracking but it's because of the local earthquakes it's causing, not the Russians.

Of course my opposition to fracking doesn't have anything to do with the poison being spewed into the water table and into the air, the contamination of water supplies and the continued conservative obsession with costly, polluting fossil fuels over solar and wind technologies. All those nights I lay awake fuming over the last two years ostensibly because of the constant loud rumbling which sounds like six helicopters hovering right outside the window - I wasn't really mad about being kept awake all night, it was just because my Russian check seems to have been deposited into someone else's account. And the day our air quality monitor told us to evacuate immediately, I wasn't incensed because of the danger, I was only upset because the Russians were late setting up alternate accommodations for my family and pets. Drat, I would have gotten away with this crazy anti-fracking stance if it wasn't for those meddling Republican patriots.

It's the GOP and Trump et al., who create the "fake news" and then "leak it" so they can spout it off to supporters.
With the "Mooch" now communications lead, his comments earlier about he's going to stop the leaks, etc., are just for show--to get the supporters to believe that Trumps doing some thing good by stopping all the big bad (and totally made up shit by Trump) leakers out there.
All in all, Trump and his surrogates are STILL working hard at division of this country full speed ahead, because it benefits him and his family.
Dishonest, lying fuckers.

I think both parties will be able to cry Russia now whenever something they don't like isn't going their way. Scary.

I will never understand the Republican embrace (in recent years) of ignorance, superstition, paranoia, and just plain stupidity. Because the US has a rich history of conspiracy theories and a general culture of paranoia. It has for a very long time.

Well, I guess this is an improvement over the article my cousins shared some time back that all the fracking & pipeline protests were celebrity attention grabs?
What a bunch of horse shit. I'm almost afraid to tour the Capital again because surely some of those people are huffing in the chambers. I might get second hand brain damage.
