^^^ may I inquire what that means? Je ne parle pas francais. (<-- One of the only French phrases I know, lol.) Jody, it just means "isn't that right?" or "isn't it so?" They use it where we might just say "right? right?"

I haven't seen it that way. I remembered it my way (but that was from 9th grade French -- many, many years ago). You are right! I just had to go look it up, which is what I should have done in the first place. Sorry! No apology needed. I thought I probably remembered it wrong. It came on the heels of someone at work saying "wala", which makes my skin crawl or I probably wouldn't have noticed the original posting with it.

(in case anyone wants to know, it is supposed to be "voila" ... another French word ... but it's pronounced "wala," more or less)

Hold the door! So if I am taking antidepressants for a medical problem I am "hooked" and shouldn't be allowed to own a gun? What if I am diabetic and "hooked" on insulin? And if I must wait ten days to pick up my gun I have had my rights violate? I have the right to a speedy trial also, but one usually must wait longer than that. And exactly how does a person living in today's world know what our forefathers would think today? Is there a time portal like the tardis available where I can sit down and have a cup of coffee with Tom or George and pick their brains? They were obviously brilliant men but foretelling the future? I'm not buying it. If that were true, the Constitution would have called for a waiting period before any politician could collect his paycheck to see if he or she was capable of collaboration and compromise .

I have not read all the responses here as some seem not focused on the topic at hand. That said, I just wanted to say this regarding the OP:
My brother, Tim, was shot (13 times) and killed by a man who bought a gun on the way home from work one day. Would a wait period have made a difference? I don't know. It might have given the guy a chance to cool off. It might have given my brother time to make changes in his life (he had filed a petition for a restraining order the day he was murdered, but the Sheriff's Dept hadn't served it yet).
Too many may haves and mights, I guess. I can't help but think the 10-days might have made all the difference, though.
For the record, I am not in support of gun control, per se, but I do see a need for change.

As a person who passionately believes in the 2nd Amendment and is a strong supporter of legal gun ownership, I BEG you - Rainbow - to please stop advocating for 'us'. You're making gun rights advocates look like loons.
(Which we are not, BTW)

@justlizzy, I am so sorry to hear about your brother. I've been here for years and never knew about that.

If you don't have the patience to wait a measly 10 days before taking possession of a gun, then I'm thinking your lack of ability to delay gratification would not qualify you as a responsible gun owner.
