I was relieved because my original Misti has a 2 inch crack on the lid and a lot of crazing
my DH is a design engineer and says the Tonic one is sturdier because of the additional molding ridges in the lid piece. They keep it more rigid so it will not be prone to flexing and thus crazing.
The baseplate is completely smooth so should be really easy to wipe clean.
I was a bit concerned it would not have enough "give" to get a good impression but it has a nice spongy base on the underside which does compress a little as you stamp.
All in all...worth the $ and the wait
