So my poor DD (sophomore in HS) got pe first period. What are some tips and advice y'all can share so she can not be a sweaty mess the rest of the day? She's worried she'll look like a wet dog the remaining 6 periods.

Baby wipes. That's all I've got. Do they have showers?

I bought my dd dry shampoo from Ulta. We used it a few times before school to see if it works. My dd likes her hair after the shampoo because it gives more body/fullness.

There was a whole thread the other day about ladies anti-monkey butt powder. It sounded like that would help.

Join the marching band? J/K although that does get my high school kids out of PE and they do field practice after school.
I got some of the Anti Monkey Butt Powder and really like it so far. The thread on it mentioned you can even use it on your face to reduce sweating.

The only advice I have is to take a quick shower. DS started before-school XC practice this week. We live close enough to the school that we originally thought I could pick up and bring him home for a quick shower, but in reality, it didn't work. So he's been taking a quick shower at school. It's not horrible, he said. But there's only 8 guys on the XC team, and they finish before the football team does, so it's not like the locker room is crowded.

I suggested band last year but she can't play an instrument so that's out. They don't have time to shower. I'll make note of the suggestions and look for anti-monkey butt powder

My sophomore requested gym 1st period. Here's her reasoning down south it's gets really humid, hair killer around 10ish. So she in and out before that. She refuses to take a shower at school... Here's her plan and two days in she likes it She has boday wipes, she wipes off real quick, washes her face, touches up her makeup, reapplied deodorant. Her hair she has up in a messy bun during gym, pulls it down after gym flips her head upside down and spray some stuff in, flounces it throws some bobby pins in and done. Now she said she actually liked her hair after gym yesterday and left it up in a messy bun. My daughter is a girly girly, purse, shoes, nails... Her closet looks like a mall. Her Philosophy about gym is she has to take, she will make it work. I love that she is confident and strong and makes it work. Good luck!

What is PE like for your daughter? I remember when I was in high school it wasn't that serious. No one showered afterwards.

When I was a freshman, I had swimming first period for a whole quarter of school. Sucked! We had 12 minutes after class to get ready, 15 if we were lucky some days. And this was back when every peice of hair had to be feathered to death.
Try some of the body wipes and try some hair styles that can use the dry shampoo or up-dos.

If her PE is like my kids' PE, she will be fine. She will barely glow after 1 hour, 45 min.
But the others have given you good advice. She will have it out of the way for the day and in another month, it will be really nice out there in the mornings. Now after lunch around here? It would be 90 and humid. No thanks!

My 8th grader also got PE 1st. Our solution? We dropped it! She has an outside activity that qualifies her to drop. Whew!
However, we were looking into all the suggestions mentioned here because my DD has extremely curly curly curly hair! Ugg!
Good luck! Let us know what works!

Well, I'm sure you won't pass on my advice, because I used to skip 2nd period gym! Or get dressed and then go hide behind the dumpsters and smoke cigarettes. Of course I failed gym so this is probably not a viable alternative!

My senior also has pe first. I wasn't happy about it, but she doesn't seem to care. She says they don't do much to sweat in pe. But she really needs to make sure she uses deodorant after and I suggested baby wipes or something. For some reason my girls don't think they stink, but they do! I feel so bad for the boys and girls that have to take pe early in the day. Especially for the kids who have "difficult" hair like I do!

Oh the dreaded days of high school PE. I had PE first hour two years in a row school and hated it. Back then we were required to take a shower every day. Our schools all had indoor pools so we also swim once a week. My hair was down to my waist so that meant wet hair all day long. , one day a week, all year long. I was surprised when my daughter got into middle school and they didn't even have shower facilities in their locker rooms. Is that standard these days?

I have curly hair, but not as curly as your daughter I think. After I exercise (and I sweat A LOT, just buckets, grosses me out big-time) I spritz this homemade water/lavender essential oil mix in my hair. It refreshes the curl without making frizz and doesn't have an overpowering smell.

My dd has first period PE too. They've been running the mile, doing fitness tests and playing football. Definitely sweating.
She doesn't have time to shower either. She keeps a pony tail holder around her wrist so she can put her hair up for PE, and she keeps deodorant in her gym locker. I'll have to suggest wipes too. That's a good idea.
