My husband and I are packing this morning for our flight to the UK tonight. We're away from Canada for 2 1/2 weeks but for the first 9 days we're going to be biking. So, I got all my clothes for 9 days in TWO zip lock bags and my DH remarks "I think you're overpacking!" I don't think I know many women who could pack so little for 9 days. He's pretty clueless sometimes.

Those must be some awfully small clothes! Yeah, tell your husband a 9 day trip would require a full sized suitcase for me alone! He has a jewel with you.

I'm really, really impressed! And your DH needs a reality check at how awesome that feat is! LOL! 9 days would easily be a large rolling suitcase and I'm pretty low-maintenance, but dang I would need a few outfit options just in case...

I couldn't get all my clothes for 9 days in two Ziploc bags, I'm impressed!

I'm impressed! I couldn't pack that lightly unless I was doing laundry every 2 or 3 days. Have a wonderful trip!

Well, I certainly do not have many options! And, I suspect by the end of the ride we'll both be pretty rank. In full disclosure, the reason he's so worried that we'll have too much stuff is that we're renting bikes and panniers and he's carrying everything so it all has to fit in his panniers. I'm carrying a water bottle!

I don't think I could fit my UNDERWEAR for 9 days in two ziplock bags! Good job! Me neither. I'm very impressed indeed. Have you got an itinerary planned for when you are here or are you just going to go where the mood takes you?

I could fit all my clothes into a carry on, but not into 2 ziplocks. Wait, what size ziplock? Is it the 2 gallon size? Ok, nevermind. No, I couldn't fit 9 days worth of clothes in 2 ziplocks.

I'm impressed! I once packed for 10 days, three people and had three bags. One of the bags had camping gear in it. I thought I was awesome!

Well done on the packing. That is impressive. How many ziplock bags has your husband used?
By the way, since you ride, do you know the Tour de France starts in the UK on the 5th July, stages include Leeds, Harrogate, York, Sheffield and Cambridge? The tour will in the UK for three days.

Have you got an itinerary planned for when you are here or are you just going to go where the mood takes you?Yes, I've planned it out and booked the B and B's along the way. We're following a cycleway that follows Hadrian's Wall in the north of England. The whole trip is less than 200 miles but our plan is to have a somewhat relaxing time of it and explore as we go along. It's our 29th anniversary half-way through the trip so hopefully it won't be too intense. I am planning on washing out my undies at least once during the 9 days. I'm very excited although a little bit apprehensive too. Emelle

I'm impressed too.
Our first couple of 2 week vacations needed two large suitcases AND two carry ons, for DH and I. Our latest one, which was 9 days in Hawaii, consisted of two carry ons, but we had to buy a ton of stuff when we got there.
I could never do two zip locks. No way.

I get a saddlebag when we travel by motorcycle. This is clothes, toiletries and shoes. I'd say 2 ziplock is an accomplishment!

I would have to have my own panniers, just so that he didn't have a reason to complain.

I use packing cubes (which I love) so I can condense a lot of stuff that way, but I could not fit it all in 2 Ziplocks. No way.

Well done - I agree your dh has no idea how well you've done!
Hope you enjoy your trip - our weather in the South is looking reasonable for this coming week so I hope it's going to be nice in the north too.

Ironically, when my DH went to pack his two ziplock bags, he had a hard time getting all his clothes in them. But, in addition to taking biking stuff and non-biking clothes, he's also taking some running clothes. I've opted to not taking running clothes as I'm quite sure after I've bike a couple of hours, I won't suddenly decide to go for a run but he will!
Anyway, we're heading out soon to drop the 15 year old at camp and then to the airport. It's been fun having you all laugh with me today.
