If you have stamps with matching dies, which do you do first? Stamp or cut?

I stamp, color then cut. It's easier for me to color before cutting.

I tend to stamp, color, and then cut, too.
However, I do have some dies that are much harder to line up right. I am thinking abou trying to cut first with those and then stamp to see if I get better results.
With the new Tim Holtz stamp platform, there is a way to line up where you stamp, which might work best. I saw it in a tutorial for the MISTI, but it should work with either. I could then cut first, stamp second. The coloring would be a little more difficult or awkward, but a bad cut really bothers me.

I also stamp, color, then cut. I've tried cutting first then stamping but I can't get it to line up right. A little washi tape does wonders to secure your die right where you want it before running it through your cutter.

I have a pretty easy time stamping first if the die is open. If it's a closed solid die I usually cut first, inlay it back into the square piece I cut it from and line it up in my stamp positioner. Maybe there is a better way for dies I can't see through but I have a harder time with those.

Here is a very basic tutorial. The glossy paper technique she uses may be different than what you are doing, but the mechanical process is what you need to see, so watch it to the end. The 2nd time is a lot easier. www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbB1UJvK4HY

Depends. If it's an open die, stamp then cut. Closed die, cut then stamp

The trick is to cut out the template so it will easily line up the next time. Then you can also emboss.

I prefer to stamp then cut but some are solid dies or harder to line up and then I cut first. I also need to use my Cameo more to try and cut!

It depends! If I am doing a ton of flowers in the same size for example, I cut then stamp and color. I find it takes less time and saves some paper. This works particularly well with Heartfelt Creations flowers that you may layer 3 of the same size in one flower.

It depends.
If the die is solid, then I cut, stamp, color. If the die has an open middle and I can see the placement of the die over the stamped image, and I stamp, cut, then color. I love that a lot of die companies are making their matching dies open so I can see exactly where I am die cutting.

btw - I HATE solid dies (like the MFT ones) for that reason! Too hard to see what you're doing. Much prefer the open centers so I can position the die better.

Cricut Cuttledbug makes a magnetic cutting mat so your die stays where you put it when cutting. I bought one, but have not tried it out yet. If it works, it will be worth its weight in gold.

I stamp , cut and then colour. I don't want to spend all that time colouring just to cut it wrong
