Mine arrived yesterday. So far, I'm not as impressed as I hoped to be. There is no foam pad inside and I think it needs one. I tried a solid stamp and no matter how many times I stamped and how I pressed there was an area of the stamp that would not stamp. after stamping eight or nine times, I finally put a piece of fun from underneath it. The stamp was about 2 1/2 inches long and an inch wide.
I have not tried the Rubber side yet. On first use, I am liking the Misti better. I will continue trying, but I'm going to look for thin black foam to use in it. I also want to get a piece of the clear grid from the quilting department like I use in my Misti.
Turning The lid over is not easier than removing a piece of foam. I will be playing more with this .

I think that like all tools, we each have our own preferences. I do not have a MISTI, so I cannot compare, but I really like the Tonic version.
I tried a very wide variety of stamps in my Tonic platform when it arrived. All stamped well. The only time I had a problem getting a complete stamp was when I tried using the MISTI corners that I had ordered to use with my Tonic. Based on a video I had seen, I thought they were supposed to work with the Tonic, but they kept me from getting a completely stamped image.
I watched a variety of videos about the platform while waiting for mine to arrive. They were helpful.
FWIW, I assume you have tried the same solid stamp in your MISTI that you tried in the Tonic platform. Whatever worked in the MISTI should work in the Tonic. I have a very thin foam that I use with CTMH clear stamps that is thinner than fun foam but works well with clear stamps. I think it would work well in the Tonic if needed. Some packing foam is similar. I keep such foam whenever I get any as packaging material, just for stamping clear stamps. Since they have no foam, they stamp differently than rubber.
Solid stamps are sometimes difficult to get a good, clean image, regardless. The ink you use can make a difference. I was using Momento ink pads yesterday and felt that they were not giving me the best results with solid images. I switched to CTMH inkpads and got a better image. In case you wonder, no, I am not a rep, never have been. Also, if you used a distress inkpad, it will be more difficult to get a solid image with a solid stamp. They are called distress inkpads for a reason. I would recommend that you try a variety of inkpads and see if you get different results.
One thing I found is that if I pressed too hard with one particular clear stamp, that I got a blurred, messy image. I tried again using a new piece of cardstock and without so much pressure, and I got a great image.
I personally plan to get some graph paper and laminate it for using in my Tonic platform. I do think it would be helpful. I also plan to keep some thin foam handy, because some stamps may need it, just as some dies need a shim to cut properly.

I am picking my platform up on Saturday. I have the stampoholic. Will be interesting to compare the two.

I found that the Creative Corners were too tall for my Tonic. I also found that the Misti magnets were taller than the magnets that came with my Tonic so I don't use those either. Same with the bar magnet. I actually have gotten a better image with my Tonic, especially near the bumpers. I never could get a good image near the bumpers of my Misti. If you are getting a good image using your Misti with the exact same stamp and ink and paper as you are using in the Tonic I wonder if you have a defective one. Might be worth contacting customer service.
I use a transparent graph grid with additional lines printed horizontally and vertically to indicate exact center. I have them printed up in three card sizes. I downloaded them, maybe from the Misti site, don't remember. Anyway I had them printed up on transparency at a Staples store. I put the transparency down on the card piece, then line up the wobbly hard to place sentiments on top of the transparency, close the door and remove the transparency, and stamp. That works for the really hard to line up and center stuff.

I did not get a complete image until I put a piece of foam under the paper. dritz makes non slip vinyl template sheets that can be cut to size for any stamping tool. I like to lay it over my paper and do a practice stamp. Because it is clear , I can see how the placement looks on my card. This is especially helpful with rubber stamps. You can find it in the quilting supplies. At Jann's it was 8.99 for 6 sheets, I had a 50% coupon for it i Aoso bought some fun foam to use with it.

I love my platform and sold my Misti. I only have one stamp (bare rubber) that needed padding. I used a silicone rubber mat and it worked perfectly.

It is possible that as another poster suggested, you got a defective Tonic. Does it have the same problems with your other stamps, too, or just the solid stamp? I spent the afternoon stamping, using my Tonic. I tried an Altenew layering flower stamp set with it. It had a large solid base for the first layer of the flower, then each additional layer stamp added detail and color, with the final result being a beautifully colored flower with great definition, just using ink pads. The solid stamp did take more times stamping, although it was probably three times, not five. Next time I will try foam underneath the cardstock when stamping the solid stamp layer. The additional detail layer stamps only needed to be stamped one or two times. Thanks for the tip about the Dritz template sheets! I need to go to JoAnn's for something else tomorrow, so I will check their quilting section for the non-slip vinyl template sheets.

Dritz template sheets are a good idea. I'll check it out.
I am surprised that your TH is not stamping better. I also did a three layer Altenew today and even with my not so hot ink got a good image with two passes. Seems like they all should stamp the same. That is disappointing.

Wish I had known about the Creative Corners before I bought them to use with my new Tonic. I noticed I couldnt close the door completely if I placed a corner piece in the top most corner of the press.

About the Creative Corners: they seem to fit when using the rubber stamp side, just not the clear stamp side.

A friend of mine does use her Creative Corners in her Tonic but she uses them more toward the middle. I haven't tried this yet as I'm on vacation. Yes they work with the rubber anywhere.

I just tried the Creative Corners more toward the middle on the clear stamp side and stamped a tag. The image wouldn't stamp completely until I placed two other tags underneath the first. Worked nicely on the first try. I was even using an Aliexpress stamp. So as long as i raised only the paper and not the corners it worked.

Well so much for creative corners and the TH then. I'm buying two sets of TH magnets, one for the TH and one for my Mini so my lid is not pushed up by the taller magnets on that too.

I stamped out a set of Lawn Fawn Merry Christmouse with the Tonic. I had several areas where the Tonic did not stamp the image at all, no matter how many times I tried. I gave up and just moved the stamps to another section, and it stamped well then. I think I will buy some thin fun foam and cut it to fit the Tonic. There are just some areas that seem to be , for lack of a better word, "dead spots" that won't stamp on the clear side. It did stamp well on the stamps after they were moved to different areas.

I realized that you don't get a good impression with clear stamps if your stamp and magnet are both too close to the outer edge. When I moved just my magnet, the stamp worked just fine. Hope this makes sense...

It was really strange that they would not stamp on some spots.

I'll have to figure out where the dead spots are...

I've mostly been stamping in the upper left corner, and have had no issues at that spot, but it is good to know there may be dead spots. I'll keep my foam handy.

I've mostly been stamping in the upper left corner too, and have had no trouble. Even stamping some things once works well. I did experiment with some thin fun foam and the cling stamp side of the list and got impressions which were clearer in some cases, so that's what I might keep on doing. In other ways, very happy with the TH platform which is much sturdier than my Stampolholic.

I have only stamped clear stamps on my Tonic. I have noticed that if the magnets are to close to the stamp, it doesn't fully stamp. Another thing is if you want to stamp to close to where the edge of the door is, it will not fully stamp. I had to move the paper and reline the stamp on the paper and restamp. I haven't had to use fun foam or extra paper with it.

Are these ones that are not stamping well everywhere the newer version 1707e? I have the 1708e from the U.K. and I'm not having problems. I stamped an 81/2 X11 piece of 110 Papertrey Ink cardstock in every possible place including within a half inch all around the bumpers. I used a clear Hero Arts flower outline stamp and black Versafine ink. They did change the bumpers on US later model. My whole black ruler is a wide raised bumper. The 1707 has a thinner bumper. I'm just wondering. Anyone getting a poor image on the U.K. one? FYI I also stamped the same image in my mini Misti which gave me a good image also next to the bumpers. Is there a difference in brands of stamps, not just the photopolymer but the thickness? I don't always get a good image next to the bumpers of my Misti. Just wondering out loud.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who is having issues with my new stamp platform. I picked mine up last week and although I haven't had a whole lot of time to play with it, my first few attempts haven't been what I was hoping for. I tried a small acrylic sentiment stamp on vellum with stazon and wasted 4 pieces of vellum before I got a decent impression. I finally realized that my magnetic bar is too thick and wasn't pressing down as tightly as it does with the TH magnets. I watched a video on YouTube and she recommended using a 2mm piece of foam to get better results with acrylic stamps which didn't seem to work for me because the foam appears to be too thick in my platform. I'm not going to give up on it yet but my first impression is not as good as I was hoping for, and as much as I hate my Misti because of cracking issues, I must admit that the very first time I used it was far more favourable than my first few attempts with my Tonic platform. It's disappointing because everything I saw before getting and using mine was great and yet my first few tries aren't what I was expecting.

streetscrapper that's frustrating. Are you using the foam with the cling stamp side if the plate? It'll definitely be too thick for the clear stamp side.

Yes, definitely the clear stamp side of the plate. I finally set it aside and have been using it without the foam piece. I really have to say that I'm not nearly as impressed with it as I would have liked to have been. I'm not a MISTI fan for many reasons, mostly because mine has cracked so badly, but I will admit that for me the MISTI worked like a charm right out of box and the TH Tonic one hasn't given me the greatest results. I'm definitely not going to pack it in... I'll keep using it... maybe it's user error.

streetscrapper, if you have any Close to My Heart stamps, they come with a very thin foam that should still work without being too thick.
