And I am a little on the nervous side. I have not had to interview for a job in quite some time. Luckily for me, my last three jobs were received because of connections within the business.
This one is something that I applied for a few weeks back just as a long shot. It is within the same scope of my current job (and I mean exact!) but it is with a large company 45 minutes from my home.
I am hopeful but it would not be a make me or break me thing if I did not get the job. They had originally set a phone interview for today, but then called back this morning and want to skip the phone and go straight to the face to face! Now I am really freaking out!
Anyway, positive thoughts for me if you don't care.

Good luck!! How far do you drive for your current job? Ummm...3 miles! lol For me to give up a 3 mile drive for a 45 minute each direction commute, the job would have to be WAY better than my current job. Maybe way more pay along with a lot better benefits, cheaper health insurance, etc. Maybe much more opportunity in a direction I want to go. etc. etc.

Maybe way more pay along with a lot better benefits, cheaper health insurance, etc. Maybe much more opportunity in a direction I want to go. etc. etc. Well I can tell you that at my current job there are not much in the way of benefits. We only have PTO of 3 hours per month. No sick, no vacation, just less that a week PTO per year. And NO health insurance is even offered. We have it through DH job right now and it is HIGH and a huge deductible (5K) so the benefit side is what really interest me. I currently have more days than not of hating my job. It is not the job, just the company. There is a lot to be said about working for a small, locally owned company both good and bad. Lately the bad is most prevalent. And there are not any more opportunities for advancement here. My supervisor is here to stay. Friends with the owner etc. Raises have been stopped for the past two years (unless you are related to the owner or my supervisor!). I am not kidding about that either! My sups SIL works here and she is the only one to have received a raise in the past two years. Yep, and she told EVERYBODY!

That does sound like a job I might want to leave even with the longer commute. One reason I have worked for large companies for many years is because of the benefits. They are usually much better with a much lower cost. But raises? What's that? LOL My company has done very little in the way of raises for quite a few years. They did give us back our pay decrease a couple of years ago.

At this time I can afford to be picky and keep my commute down.. right now I drive 25 miles each way. I will probably still have to do so. I have limited my options to about the same about of miles.. I would LOVE to be within 3 miles of my home but other than the courthouse there isn't much opportunity. I have applied at the courthouse now about six different jobs with no luck. I think anyone in my town looking for a job is looking there as well. Which sucks.
