NPR posted an article about an alternative: The Rice Bucket Challenge. Seems a journalist in India started the trend by giving a bucket of rice to a needy neighbor and posted about that on her Facebook page. Now there's a Facebook page just for the Rice Bucket Challenge. Cool!
