Update 8/17/17
I was offered the position. I accepted pending where they'll place me on the salary schedule. I think I can get 10-12 years of service credit. I hope. I don't know what the start date will be, but the next board approval dates are August 27 and September 5.
My partner is super bummed. I love love love him, and don't know what I'll do without him. He's my buddy and rock. He has been looking for a job closer to home (90 mins one way commute) since March and hasn't been successful. I really only started looking because I figured he wasn't going to be here this year.
I called to see if the director wants to have lunch tomorrow so I can find out more... I like to be prepared.

Update 8/17/17
Interview was this morning. I was SO nervous. I've only ever had one official interview, and that was with a panel of people who already know me. I let them know I was nervous, and they were very kind.
The lead interviewer said that they would let me know within 24 hours, and probably by the end of today. They need someone immediately. Two of my references have been called already. They wouldn't call two references if they weren't going to offer me the job, right?
Hopefully the next update will be that I was offered the job. I still have to find out where I would be placed on the salary schedule, find out about benefits, and office location, if any. Oh, and start date.

Update 8/14/17
I have an interview on Wednesday. Crossing all fingers and toes! (If I get the job, I will have to ask my current employer to release me.)

I've been at the same school district since 1990. I did my student teaching at the school where I worked for 24 years.
I've been in my current job at the district office for 2 years.
Just now, I hit submit on a new position in a different district. It's basically the same job I do now, but it's working with 4 schools (K-8) with 2800 students/100 teachers instead of 14 (TK-12) and 10,000 students/450 teachers, for more money (depending on how many years they take, it is from $5k to as much as $20k more), and with many more resources than my district has now.
The commute is roughly the same (3 miles/15 minutes vs. 9 miles/15 minutes), new district commute is surface streets/current district is freeway.
It is a relatively big risk, as I would be leaving 26 years of seniority, tenure, and relationships, for a position that is only guaranteed for 2 years.
Things I still have to find out- how many years of service they will transfer for the pay scale, medical benefits, what kind of training/conferences I get to attend, what my budget is for training materials, and if I have an office or have to work out of my car trunk. I also want to know if the position isn't renewed, would it be possible to get a classroom in one of the schools I serve.
My qualifications match what they're looking for, and actually far exceed it.
Their school year starts August 11. So that's quite a rush to get a new employee interviewed and on board. Once I start my new year at my current district (Aug 15), I can't leave. My current position will end at the end of the new school year, and I don't think I can face going back into the classroom here in 2018.
Wish me luck!
