btt for update 8/17/17
I was offered the position. I accepted pending where they'll place me on the salary schedule. I think I can get 10-12 years of service credit. I hope. I don't know what the start date will be, but the next board approval dates are August 27 and September 5.
My partner is super bummed. I love love love him, and don't know what I'll do without him. He's my buddy and rock. He has been looking for a job closer to home (90 mins one way commute) since March and hasn't been successful. I really only started looking because I figured he wasn't going to be here this year.
I called to see if the director wants to have lunch tomorrow so I can find out more... I like to be prepared.

Have you signed a contract for the original job? I know districts around here make you pay to buy out of your contract. I've never heard of this.

Here they can deny your request for release by putting a hold on your credential and that prohibits you from taking another certificated position. I don't think they'll do that with me because it won't directly impact students because I'm out of the classroom. And it's a cost savings because I don't need to be replaced.

Pending congratulations. I hope they meet your salary requirements! I'm confident they will. I just don't want a pay cut. The reduced drive time and increased respect and ability to do my job will also make my life easier.
