After being sick for a week, my Dr thinks I have Hep A. He thinks I got it on vaca in SF a month ago. He called me today but couldn't talk for long. I do another blood draw tomorrow. I'm less worried about me I guess but concerned for my DBF. Anything he should know? Anything I should know?
Thanks so much.

You're most likely to contract hepatitis A from contaminated food or water or from close contact with someone who's already infected. Mild cases of hepatitis A don't require treatment, and most people who are infected recover completely with no permanent liver damage. from web md
hope your doc is wrong, but A is not as bad as B most of the time.

I contacted hepatitis in the mid-70's from an unknown source. I was very sick for about five weeks. There was no treatment with medicines, just bed rest and my doctor did a blood draw weekly to watch my liver enzyme levels. It wasn't fun. My energy level was so low I could hardly move. I also had no appetite and lost quite a bit of weight before I recovered. I didn't experience any lasting liver damage thankfully.
