Does anyone have any good ideas about how to keep track of your sentiment stamps? I really don't have very many stamp sets, but I'm thinking it would be a good idea to have some kind of catalog of sentiments that I could look at, without having to flick through the stamps themselves when I'm looking for the right sentiment for a card. Especially since some sets are mixed images and words (I don't use many sets where it's a creature + punny sentiment that only really works with that stamp set - they're mostly pretty generic). I was thinking I could just stamp all of them onto sheets of cardstock, maybe group them by type or style, to make a little booklet. But I figured I would ask the experts for thoughts, or maybe you know of some system that a stamp-celeb uses that works well. Of course, I don't really need to know who made which stamp, whereas most of the stamp-celebs are keeping track of that for their affiliate marketing needs. I thought I could even pull all the sentiments off and store them together, separate from their images. Has anyone tried that? Did it help, or did it create other problems? (While you're here, feel free to tell me about your favorite sentiment sets for birthdays/thank yous/etc. Especially simple bold/graphic ones. Thanks )

I am not as far advanced in organization as I would like to be, but many people use Evernote to keep track of their stamps, so I would assume it would work for keeping track of your sentiments, too. I plan to try that as soon as I get around to it. Supposedly you can search by key word, and all your sentiments with that word would show up.

I use an open rotary Rolodex. I've attached the link on Amazon. I stamp my sentiments using back and front of Rolodex cards and notate the set it's from. I have made headers using a Rolodex die that papertrey ink makes but you really don't need it. You can use other sets of labels to divide them into categories. Some people have sentiment binders and stamp them on pages in a notebook I think. www.amazon.com/rolodex/s?ie=UTF8&page=1&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Arolodex

Evernote. I tried making cheat sheets but it was a hassle. I have photos of all my stamp sets in Evernote. I also tagged all words and shapes. I can just search Thank you and all sets with Thank you come up. Or if I want a turtle and I can't remember which set it's in I can search for turtle and (the way I have it saved) it will bring that set up. All my stamp sets are stored in alpha order by brand and then set name.
I use Evernote on my phone, so it's with me when I'm out shopping so no more duplicates. It will sync to my tablet, too.

I was just wondering about this too, so thank you for starting this thread! The other issue with sentiment stamps is that there are so many different combinations that you can put together... I just got the Basic Sentiments set from The Ton, and I couldn't figure out the best way to keep track of all the sentiment combinations I can make! I think I will have to stamp them all out. On a side note, I am bothered that this particular set doesn't have the word "your" in it and am annoyed I didn't notice before I ordered it.

I just took a look and that really could use a "your" - since they have a "you" and a "you're" and an "on." I have a set like that too, where you can make variations with happy + other words. The other day I was looking to add something like "best wishes" to a card that already had a "happy birthday" (so I didn't want to say "happy wishes" which sounds stupid anyway)... but they have "wishes" and "wishing" and "you" and "sending" and "to you" but not BEST! I kept thinking how much better it would be if only they'd included the word best. Sigh... I think it might help to stamp a bunch of these out in different combos, just so I can see the options. Maybe just on the back of the packaging card to start with? Until I figure out whether I need more organization, or if I'm making things too complicated

Another Evernote user here. It's already saved me from buying a few stamps twice, and I can find any stamp I want now. No more searching in every drawer and hoping I find something that will work.

Yup, that looks like it would work. I think being able to see the image stamped on paper would help for my needs. btw I hit the "previous" button a few times on your gallery and I love your doily Christmas tree cards

I started to use Evernote for organizing all of my supplies but it got too overwhelming and like many other things, I got half way through and stopped...

I did this also. I don't have an overwhelming amount of stamps. i also need to know if the size will work. FurryP Can you add an image file of the stamp instead of a url? My fear is that i will have dead links in the future.

I did this for my dies, inks, stencils and pen colors, too.

I'm working on something like this too. I really want/need the size visual so I know if the sentiment will fit on the punch or die shape I want to use! It's just taking me forever because I have way too many stamps and get bored and distracted while I'm doing it

It's just taking me forever because I have way too many stamps and get bored and distracted while I'm doing it I know what you're going thru. Schedule yourself a set amount to do each work session. I thought of lining up a bunch of stamps and photo, print, cut up the print, and paste them in my notebook. The problem is they are not sized, so I still had to pull the stamp and check for size. By stamping directly into the notebook I can easily see if it will fit the project. And by categorizing the stamps I can maybe get options, which is another way to waste time making decisions. I am a Journeyman time waster.

Another vote for a stamp journal. I have a page for each phrase, then pages by theme that dont fall into the exact phrase category. For example Happy Birthday is on one page, then any phrase relating to birthdays or parties or celebrations etc... it works for me because I do not have a lot of phrases other than thank you. Found I only had one Happy Anniversary! Guess I need to fill in some gaps.

Coming back to this thread, for a minute I thought I had "sentiment" as "sentient" so I just had a good chuckle about "keeping track of sentient stamps"

Another vote for Evernote. I either take a picture or find an image online to grab to put into Evernote, that way I can see it.
I also learned to be sparing with my tags. So I don't tag it with every sentiment, but with things like: thanks, congrats, encouragement, hello, puns, sympathy, etc. With the pictures right there, I don't find it necessary to be real detailed with the tags.

For those of you who are using Evernote, do you number your sets and then keep them in organized in bins? binders? don, I see that you number your stamps. What about sets? Do you break them up? I like the Evernote idea since the info would be available on my phone when I'm out shopping. It would also be good for an insurance record. My problem is my supplies are all over the place, sigh.

I always break up sets. Mainly because I have never had a set where I use all the stamps, so I sell, trade or give away the excess.
