Last night I was home alone. My sons and DH were out at various activities. I went to bed about 8:30. At about 1 am the dog was insistently trying to wake me up. The light was on downstairs (maybe I left it on) and I heard moaning sounds. I went down the stairs quietly and fully expected to see someone down there, but instead, the TV was on and there was soft porn on the TV.
I looked all around to see if anyone was home and no one was home. I let the dog out but of course I have to look at this porn and figure out what is going on and all that. It was all the woman, man was just his head so that wasn't interesting. I looked to see what channel it was on and it was some obscure TBX or something and it was called Erotic Fantasies.
So I let the dog back in, turned it off and took the dog back up with me. Now do you think the dog could have turned it on? She does hit the buttons on the remote a lot of times when it is on the sofa and she is trying to get her blanket straight. Do you think she turned it on and it scared her and that's why she came to get me?
I had no idea there was porn available on any channels I have, except HBO I guess. To think I could have been enjoying it!

I bet your remote signals got mixed with a neighbors and you got to *cough cough* benefit from what they were watching.
Edited: HBO definitely has more riskier shows late at night. So maybe that was what you were seeing?

My cats turn the TV on sometimes, so it is possible. Of course, the cats also like playing piano at 4:00 am, so....

My cats have stepped on the remote and turned on the tv before. They've also changed the channel and volume settings. Not very helpful.

I vote for the dog, since one of mine turned on the electric burners on my glass cooktop once! At least the risqué tv show won't set the house on fire!

I was mixing up episodes of Friends. It was like the FREE PORN channel Chandler and Joey were watching.

We don't always turn the cable box off, just the TV. many times I've turned the TV on, only to find out the dog stepped or laid on it and changed the channel. Haven't turned it to anything kinky but I have found it on the home shopping network many times.

My grandmother once fell asleep watching a movie on Cinemax and woke up when Cinemax becomes soft porn. She almost had a heart attack. I'm guessing the dog hit the remote. Or you have bored ghosts.

You had me at porn.... I vote dog accidentally hitting the remote button. The channel was probably left on some innocent movie or show. The real question is, did DH come back home to watch TV?

Check your next bill to see if you paid for it. A lot of times those channels are pay per view.

My brother once left his German Shepard in the truck. Spring, all windows down. All of a sudden there was music coming from the truck. Dog is sitting behind the steering wheel looking all innocent. He'd pushed the 8 track into the tape deck.

This story is too funny. DH likes to leave the tv on for the dog when we leave the house. We recently left our dog with a car show. And when we came back she was watching soccer. She must have changed the channel. So I can see a dog doing this.

This just happened to me. Kid's were asleep, husband was at work and I was watching stuff on my DVR when I looked at the DVR list, porn was being recorded. DirecTv said they showed no charges and didn't see where I ordered any PPV porn. I got my bill and there was a charge for it and they still couldn't see where I ordered it. The only thing they can come up with is my DVR is hooked up to the internet and someone has hacked our internet. So I have to change my wifi password in case that's what is happening. Keep an eye on your bills if you're hooked up to the internet via your cable/satellite box

If the kids don't put the remotes away, my cats will step on them and turn on the tv in the middle of the night. I've had the dog do it once in the middle of the day when dd left the remote on the couch.

Luckily neighbours saw the fire and the house (and cat!) were saved. There was about $70.000 worth of damage though. Luckily my cats are too old and lazy to do this! Corinne

I love the peas. In addition to all the funny and plausible responses, there is a serious side. This is one of many mysteries and / or hazards inherent in today's world where everything is electronic and waves go around and through us and our homes/ workplaces all the time, usually without our knowing it. Until something happens, hopefully not something serious or unhealthy (?) Our old neighborhood had security equipment hassles (the main symptom, TV and cable stuff similar to what you experienced was a more benign side effect) when a particular installer ran a very successful campaign, a whole lot of people signed up at once and the hopping code technology used created havoc. People returning home randomly disabled other peoples' locks and security gates alarms went off for "no reason" and so forth. Our old house was between two townhouse complexes and across the road from a third, all of whom used the company after the promotion. We were not one of the particular installer's new clients but even we had incidents. It got quite scary and the installer had made his money and was singularly unhelpful, unfortunately. i wonder whether the boffins can prevent this sort of thing happening, whether we will need regulations to force them to do it, or whether we are just running out of bandwidth and it will all get worse?
