So a coworker is having a baby shower this fall for her DD. They are going to have a tea party type shower. So she has been picking up cups and saucers and then was going to put a teabag with a saying on it (something like something is brewing??) along with a honey stick.
We figured that using a piece of tulle would work to gather them together etc. But it ends up even a 12" piece is too small. I'm thinking if she did a bigger piece it would look like too much gathered at the top.
Any suggestions on how else to keep everything together? I suggested poster putty or the heavy two sided tape to fasten the cup to the saucer and then she can just wrap the tea bag etc and put it in the cup. This way the beautiful cups would be seen better.
Thanks for your help, Karen

Can you still use the too big piece of tulle and then trim the top after it's tied together? I would do that before sticking the cup and saucer together with anything for fear of damaging them.

If the tulle isn`t proving to be practical perhaps you can use the cellophane that florist will sell you if you ask nicely. I did this when I needed to wrap a 3 tier nappy (diaper) cake and a hanging nappy wreath. There are usually a few patterns to choose from and I think would be ideal for what you need. Could tie with curly ribbon.

Tie with pretty ribbon. I never really attached the cup to the saucer with anything. Ive always used the teacups as centerpieces, doubling as prizes. Sometimes, Ive planted a plant in them, other times ive filled as you are suggesting.

Oh and as suggested above, I have used cellophane as well. The dollar store has clear goody bags that the tea cups fit perfectly into and tie shut, trim top accordingly.

Where are you getting your tea cups? I need to add a few more pretty ones to my collection. Tia.
I second the goody bags from Dollar tree.

I wonder if the goody bags would be big enough on the bottom. The tulle was purchased already cut in circles which were 12" ones. You figure the plate is on average 5" across and then up for the cup. She wanted whatever was cheapest. She is thinking using curling ribbon and and just criss cross like an x and tie in it, but I personally think they will slip out easy. But whatever. I think if we got the tulle by the yard it would cost more than she wants to spend.
We've picked up most of the cups at Goodwill and Savers. I also picked up a few at the auction last week. My dump has a swap area where if you don't want something that is still good you leave it there. I grabbed like 5 a couple weeks ago.
I'll swing by dollar store tonight to check out the bags. Thanks.

I have found reasonably cheap tulle by the yard on both Esty and e-bay. Search 'tulle by the yard'. She can get around 25 yards of the 6 inch wide for less than $3.00 to $6.00 on Esty. She would need to probably use 2 pieces and criss-cross them, but it might be worth her while, or else maybe look into the cost of the 12 inch wide and see if it fits in her budget. www.etsy.com/search?q=tulle%20by%20the%20yard
