I do NOT want this to get into a bash political thread, but it is curious that customs fees are increasing suddenly. Wondering if this seemingly "random" rise is based on all packages or just packages shipped from America? I have not often ordered from outside of NA (I have also ordered from Australia, Japan, and the UK in the past but very rarely) but I believe I have only ever been charged duty on packages arriving from the USA. That said, mine is definitely not a fair comparison because of the frequency with which I order from US companies. With Canada customs, it seems to be very random and I am often 'caught' on very inexpensive purchases while others that are far more costly slip through. And, usually the charge is for HST (which is a tax I have to pay on most items deemed non-essential purchased in Canada; it is a 13% sales tax) and a handling fee of $9.95, not a customs levy. The HST/handling fee charge nuisance has definitely increased in the last two or three months.

anniefb maybe? Who knows? Then again, there will surely be so much to occupy HM Customs that perhaps they'll have bigger fish to fry! I very rarely order direct from the US any more but have 'essentials' (ha ha!) shipped to my American friend and wait till we get together 2 or 3 times a year. Did someone say patience is a virtue?

I got €40 euro charge on my dd kits and I was missing 3 items
My hero arts kit order came today I'd ordered one each for myself and my sister, €25 customs and only one of the kits inside, and I had to pay the customs in 2 kits!!!!

gigi333 you seem to be having awfully rotten luck with your customs charges. Do you think they've "got your number"? I remember someone saying that she felt that they (whoever they may be) spotted that she received a few packages from the USA and were on the lookout for them. She began having the packages sent to a different address and the charges stopped. I don't know if there's truth in that or not, but it might be worth a try? Any chance of shipping them to a work address or to your sister?

I wonder if customs fees will be one of the things that changes after the UK leaves the EU? It is part of the Brexit negotiations, actually! I'm not sure how much the EU has to gain from not taxing parcels from the UK, however, the same can't be said the other way around. But it's not a major matter compared to all the other issues to sort out. What. A. Mess. I believe that anything imported to the UK from outside the EU is liable for duty. At the very least it's VAT charged at a variable rate calculated on the classification of whatever is in the package but it might also include some import duty too. Yep, within the EU only EU-originating parcels are free from duty and VAT. The country where you're importing. The USA also has a number of duties but I believe these are mostly levied on commercial goods. And it's all geopolitics as well. France, for example, is harsher on USA-sent parcels as a form of retaliation against the USA's taxation of French luxury goods. Ah, power play... Don't you just love it? Like men pissing in the snow. gigi333 Surely, someone somewhere is sticking needles in a voodoo doll shaped like your mailbox! So much bad luck. *hugs*

I just don't know the hero arts was priced at $70 so that's why that got stopped i think either sc or ups have changed their policies as I'm not the only one getting stopped for their stuff and that was very rare before

Anyone do this with teen boys? I'd like to do one (I made a DD when they were younger) but some of the pages I'm drawing a blank on since we don't do the visit to santa, cartoon movies, santa tracks, etc anymore

Anyone do this with teen boys? I'd like to do one (I made a DD when they were younger) but some of the pages I'm drawing a blank on since we don't do the visit to santa, cartoon movies, santa tracks, etc anymore I don't have kids at all and have done a DD the past two years and still find plenty of stories to come up with. Sometimes the story needs to just be something small--every day doesn't need to be a huge Christmas related event. A few story ideas:
+ A favorite sentimental ornament and the story behind it. + Holiday baking. + A favorite holiday movie (totally not just for kids!). + The wrapping paper you are using this year/wrapping gifts. + The story behind a family tradition in December. + Then/now would be fun with teenagers -- pick a photo from a December 10 years ago of one of your kids and tell a story about how they saw Christmas back then vs. now-- you could do a separate day for each child. + Decorations around your town. + Decorations around your house. + December weather. + Office/school holiday parties. + A list of what you are thankful for now. + Christmas shopping. + Christmas cards (both received and sent). + Kids' Christmas lists (even though they are teenagers and won't be writing to Santa, I'm sure they still have wish lists for gifts).
I have definitely listed & used many more ideas in the past, but this was just a sample of what I came up with off the top of my head. Looking through Ali's old posts and other people's albums can give you story ideas as well.
Also, as a side note, this thread is more for December Daily supplies/kits that are out there--for DD inspiration/ideas there is a separate thread here.

I have a teen daughter and teen son and I have a few ideas I will try: We still do an advent calendar (theres candy in each door and then the last one will be a small present like earbuds etc) We will be seeing the new Star Wars movie (we usually see a movie before xmas each year). We go see lights, visit downtown for shopping. We also decorate gingerbread houses and cookies together. Decorating the tree. It doesn't really matter if they are in everyday. Some days will just be general or my own stuff. I will also add -I am not sure I will do every single day. I think thats why I didn't follow thru last year. It was too much pressure when I was already busy enough!

Ok so I feel kinda dumb, but I excitedly bought Kelly Purkey’s pink 4x4 album (for non-DD purposes) but really thinking about the lack of page protectors. Does anyone sell 4x4 at this point, or will I have to accept that these pages will be “exposed?”
Thanks, Peas! 😊

I'd advise you start hunting down some from Becky Higgins (or WRMK but those are becoming rarer finds). If you have a Fuse tool, I suggest the Simple Stories Sn@p collection's page protectors for their horizontal 4x6 albums and fuse + cut them down to the right size. They also have a fun variety pack you can cut (and fuse where necessarily) down which would give you some 3x4 + 4x4 + 4x(2x2).

Just checked...I have two packages but they are both the 2x2 configuration. Let me know if you are interested.

So, the error in the DD page protectors is obvious right? I could put a card in all of mine, so I am guessing I was lucky and got non-defective page protectors.

In the 4 pocket pps, I can fit a card on both sides, but the right pocket is a bit tighter than the left. About 1/8” off would work great.

Yet ANOTHER screwup in DD. I ordered one of the December log books. I got this email: ![](https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171027/957c2ea2979ee6d429daa43b675fc7e8.jpg) I can’t remember how many pages it should have, because of course Inked has removed all trace of the log book from the site, so if I click on the product from my order, I get that stupid bummer video. Seriously, I’ve had it. I ordered a product. I should be able to view that product’s description after my order to make sure it is correct.

Thank you. I’ll have to look at mine to see how many pages it has. I’m glad AE is taking responsibility and reached out to all buyers because I may have never realized. BUT that doesn’t redeem them in any way. This should have been caught when the product was received before it was sent to customers. Inked QA is non existent.

I received my replacement page protectors yesterday. They came really fast. I am sorry for those of you that have to wait. I wish there were not so many DD errors every single year. I remember one year having 3 albums of the same one because they replaced them due to being dented and the star upside down. They always fix things and I have had very good customer service from AE always, but it would be so nice to just buy stuff and not have so many mistakes with products. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/mYSUyHtG9Jrcmm_ydVcK.jpg)

Oh wow. More on the log book.
I missed a post in the DD FB group about it a few days ago.
Someone brought up that it has 25 pages when the description said 35. After some discussion, someone said the description was CHANGED from 35 to 25 on the product listing, even though the log book was sold out. Someone called out Inked for that and magically, the description was changed BACK to 35 pages.
Inked cannot even TRY to appear ethical.

Did anyone order the 2017 December Daily® 6x8 Patterned Paper Pack? If so, how were the papers? Thickness and color nice? Debating on ordering them in my second order with the chipboard bundle I could not resist getting after saying I would not. ugh.
or maybe I should just get the JJ kit for $8 more. hmmm. I like the green in there and she has a lot of pretty words on hers.

I was very shocked and pleased when I could get the 3x4 cards in all of mine too. Looks like the only item I'll be waiting on to be corrected is the log book.
