Do you prefer quinoa to be cold, as in a salad OR hot, as in a side dish like rice?
Also, is there a difference in taste, texture or preference between white, red & tri-colored qunioa?

I only eat it hot. In a salad I don't taste it because it's so small. I do think the red one has a flavor, a bit gritty, while the white is tasteless.

My understanding is the red is more nuttier tasting. I actually like it both ways..I guess just depends on the dish to be honest. No differences in texture..and have never see tri-colored so can't speak to taste or texture on that one.

I use it as a sub for rice, so hot. And I eat it cold as in this salad. Corn, Blabk Bean and Quinoa
2ears corn, grilled 1can black beans, rinsed 1/2 cup Quinoa cooked and seasoned with cumin , salt, pepper 1green onion chopped 1/2 red bell pepper chopped fine 1/2 green pepper chopped fine 1/2 cucumber , chopped 1 Avocado cubed 1/4 cup of chopped fresh basil OR cilantro Several cherry tomatoes cut in half and served on top but do not refrigerate the tomatoes.
Toss all together with a vinegarette dressing and refrigerate.

This is my favorite recipe with quinoa. My son is vegetarian and had to try some recipes with quinoa. I have actually used the filling part of this recipe for tacos with corn tortillas. Instead of tomato, I used salsa. pinterest.com/pin/107453141083589044/

I love the red quinoa in a salad - mixed with roast (cold) sweet potatoes, kale, pomegranite seeds, almonds with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar. It's definitely nuttier textured than the regular white quinoa

My favorite way is baked in a casserole with summer squash, spinach, lots of butter, plain greek yogurt, and pepperjack cheese.

To make the white Quinoa taste a little better I toast it in the oven before I boil it to give it a nuttier flavor. Also, since I 'm not vegan or vegetarian I cook it in chicken broth for better flavor. I really like it much better than rice.
