I know this sounds strange but whenever I have the hiccups all I have to do is say out loud "I have the hiccups!" and poof they're gone. It happens that way every single time, doesn't matter if I've hiccuped a couple of times or 50, all I need to do is say those magic words. Just for fun I've tried other things like drinking water from the wrong side of a glass or eating a spoonful of sugar. Those things don't work for me but saying I have hiccups clears them right up.

Well, I don't get hiccups all that often - I can't remember the last time I had them. When I have had them, I just kind of go about my business and they seem to go away as quickly as they came. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. Your method is interesting though!

Holding my breath almost always works for me. My kids used to get on the couch upside down and drink from a straw.

I put a paper towel over a glass of water and drink the water thru the paper towel. It always works for me.

Put a toothpick inside of a glass of water, then stare at the toothpick as you drink the water. It works!

Lol at all of us. I'm sure some of you remember the old show "Courtship of Eddie's Father"? Well one day Eddie gave his hiccup cure -- take seven small sips of water without breathing in between, then take a deep breath and hold it as long as you can. I always use Eddie's cure. Works every time.

I do have another one. Growing up we would say, "go to 'person's name' " several times and it was supposed to make that person get your hiccups. I can't remember if it worked but it certainly pissed off one of my cousins. She'd get all pouty 'cause we were being meeeean!

I take a regular breath, drink 7 sips of any drink then take another breath. This works 9 times out of 10.
