My heart breaks for every single person experiencing flooding. I have BTDT and would nt wish it on my worst enemy. All I can do is cry when I see the news. Then I read articles like these and my blood boils www.politico.com/magazine/story/2017/08/27/hurricane-harvey-katrina-lessons-louisiana-215543www.cnn.com/2017/08/29/opinions/dutch-america-storms-opinion-ghitis/?iid=ob_lockedrail_bottomlistWhy can our government not realise that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure or, in this case, a TONNE of cure? Why is there so much red tape and hassle to build protection against these natural disasters but the money to repair flows a little easier? Not to say easily, it took us 3 YEARS to get a FEMA check, but easier than funding what needs to be done. LA is funding its own infrastructure, yet can't get the permits through the Army Corps of Engineers red tape bureaucracy. Oh, wait, there is no climate change!! Our president thinks is was made up by the Chinese to make US manufacturing non-competitive. You CANNOT make this stuff up.

It seems like we (human beings) never, ever learn these lessons. We keep making the same damn mistakes over and over again. As for our esteemed president, just ... blecch. I got nuthin'.
