Try some other shoes. I always thought I was an overpronator and wore Brooks Adrenaline. I finally went into a running store and was filmed running on their treadmill and am definitely a neutral runner. I wear Brooks Ghosts now and they are so much more comfortable for me.

Take them back and ask for a different fitter.

I'm a pretty severe overpronator (and with wide feet to boot). Brooks Ravenna for me. My typical footwear has zero support (flip-flops and sandals - San Diego - don't judge!!) but the stability of the running shoes feels very comfortable. The brick-like feeling you're experiencing doesn't sound normal. Are the shoes possibly too narrow for you?

Make sure you get one size up from your normal shoe size. I went to a running shoe store this time and getting a size up, as they recommend, made all the difference in the world for me.

I pronate and have had the best success with ASICS running shoes. You shouldn't be feeling the support as you describe. Good luck finding the right pair for you.

I'm back from the store. Sure enough, the New Balance were too big. The heel slipped up severely on me and since they are at year end models, they didn't have another one in a half size smaller. I was able to try on the Brooks Adrenaline and Brooks Ravenna. I LOVE THE RAVENNA! So that's what I came home with and I'm pretty sure it's what I needed. I have tried the Hoka One in the past and while extremely comfortable, I still pronated too much with it. Lovely shoe though!!! I tried two pairs of ASICS on yesterday and neither fit. I couldn't even get my foot into one of them hardly even though I don't technically have a wide foot, I have a wide toe base. If I had to choose a shoe on looks, hands down it would be ASICS. I don't know if it's because I'm a scrapbooker or what, but they have some gorgeous shoes! I also got a new fit specialist and she was able to help me. It took all of 20 minutes to find the right fit for me and to walk on the treadmill to ensure everything was as it should be. I don't pronate as much in my Brooks Glycerin (a neutral) as I did in my Saucony Triumph (also a neutral). I had a severe pronation on one side with the Saucony and I'm lucky I didn't break something. I had no idea....no wonder I've had hip and leg pain since walking/running outside! It never bothered me on the treadmill but I walk MUCH slower on the treadmill than outside. I just can't thank you ladies enough for answering my pleas for help!!! Really, it helped me so much to know what to do! So glad you went back!! i have worn Adrenalines forever but am thinking of trying the Ravenna. good for you!! enjoy those new shoes!

I overpromate. The only runners that feel good on me are Nike Zoom

Glad you got new shoes. I'm an under-pronator and have usually only worn Brooks Adrenalines or a New Balance 860Vs. I also have E width feet so very difficult to find good shoes.
I've also typically gone up about a 1/2 size from my normal.

Saucony Guide are my go-to. The only stability shoes that fit my odd feet.

Can I hijack? Anyone got experience buying running shoes for different size feet?
I need some but I hate trying to find shoes at the best of times, my feet are just fricking annoying lol.

Definitely go back! Glad you went to a running store. For the most part, they are the best to go for when getting new running shoes.
I'm a neutral with slight overpronation and love Brooks Ghost shoes. I've been using them since Brooke Ghost 5 and now they are one 10.

Yep, they're a full size different so it has quite an impact on fit.

Depending on the size difference. If you have at least a size different they (at least they have in the past) sold two different sizes.

Pretty sure New Balance will sell two different sized shoes. Maybe not in the store but I think you can order from the company. I feel like another shoe company does too but, for my life, I cannot remember who. Brooks maybe? My feet are almost a whole size different and one is definitely wider but I do pretty well in either New Balance or Brooks but I think Brooks shoes are not as wide as they used to be. m SaveSave
