Well I’m not calling her fat, glass house and all. But she looks pregnant. There’s a difference. Well, maybe talking about weight gain and Noom is her cover, lol ... I agree, there's a pregnant/bump look there, but weight gain is weird, so it's hard to tell ... yet!

While I don't think she is expecting ---- it would explain some of the things that have been going on.

I'm not going to comment since I got it horribly wrong with a neighbour many years ago! Still cringe at that one.....
I finally gave away the baby stuff that was in my attic. I'm one of 3 and we have 2 and I always thought we'd have another. But the reality is, that life is hectic enough with two and I didn't/don't have the energy. Kind of the downside of having kids in my mid 30s. It felt good to give away the stuff.

Not going to speculate but I will say those promotional t-shirts they give the fans at games are always horribly ill fitting and unflattering lol.

Anyone else love seeing Ali post about Simon + prom? Yes! Loved the Star Wars prom clothes (even if I had to Google who he was). We had the opportunity to meet Simon during Story Camp. He is an amazing kid and Ali is amazing with him.

If the feet pictures make you stabby (like they do me) then you will really live today’s picture.

If the feet pictures make you stabby (like they do me) then you will really live today’s picture. Cue the comments about taking photos of your nekkid self in the shower for the sake of authenticity and documenting. 🍿 It's all so staged, isn't it? The staged aspect of "intentional" memory-keeping hits me with certain photos and this is just one of those. It instantly brings back to mind that my very favourite photos to look back on are always on-the-fly, not posed or staged, actual spontaneous moments, real life captured. Anyhoo.

Lol, I had to laugh about the shower photo too.
Recently our daughter took her phone in the shower with her while talking to her friend because she didn't want to hang up. My concern--She better not be on facetime while naked! Hubby's concern--She better not get water damage on that phone because it's expensive!
So, of course, when I saw Ali's photo I thought the same.
Although, I have to say, my cat LOVES the shower and always sits on the edge while I shower and tries to paw at the shampoo bottles, pokes his head in and licks water off the wall. Every year during WITL I wish I could capture photos of it... it is sooo cute seeing his head poking in and something I really want to remember about him... but I'm too afraid of damaging my phone with the water! (Even though they say the iphones are water proof now, I'm not sure I trust it.)

The Statler to my Waldorf. *sends air kiss* It's all such a contradicting mess: be authentic but look at my staged photos. *sighs* I have to say, my cat LOVES the shower and always sits on the edge while I shower and tries to paw at the shampoo bottles, pokes his head in and licks water off the wall. The memory will be just as wonderful captured from the other side of the shower with your kitty's back showing. You can always recapture the moment for some extra visual evidence later on when you feel more confident in the waterproof aspect of your smartphone/camera. Or borrow a clear umbrella to stand under while the water runs (and tricks the cat).

I don’t know why but this reminds me of this comedienne : http://instagram.com/p/Bw-TXRdlSFR I should go around taking pictures of everyday items for my scrapbook. “This, kids, is where mommy pooped everyday. Notice how it needs cleaning. This is normal. In the garbage is my floss, with bits of food still stuck to it. Hygiene. “

I noticed Ali said “...there were times I imagined a completely different existence”.
Sounds like she’s given up on the idea of pursuing a career in politics herself. That’s ‘stinking thinkin’.
She’s right to recognise the scrapbooking networks she’s cultivated are not going to get her there. However, given her parenting experience she’s well placed to engage, perhaps as a volunteer initially, with an NGO. And that could certainly take her where she really wants to go,
Her youngest is, what, 10 now? It’s time she stepped out of her safe routine and gave it a try.

Did she express a desire to have a career in politics? I don't think I've ever heard her mention it. Interesting.

Not sure about politics but she said in one of those Q&A things on her IG stories that she originally planned to be an attorney but skipped the LSAT and went back to get a graphic design degree instead.

The episode of Crafty Ass Females podcast with Ali talks about her backstory. I think it was #46. I kind of forget the details but it was really interesting to listen to her talk about how her life unfolded. I think there was mention of her education path, ex husband etc.

Her education is on her website to. She has a BA in American studies, associates in graphic design. That was an interesting podcast episode. She talks a lot about how she was a “work-a-holic” pre-Katie. How basically Katie gives her a to-do list of tasks to complete each week.

Idk about her having a desire to work in politics, I've never gotten that vibe. Idk what her undergrad degree is in, but as an attorney I can tell you that political science and American studies are both degrees that are common for people planning to go into a grad program, whether it's law school or pursuing an MBA, MPA, etc.
I think the "completely different existence" she imagined was being a stay at home mom married to a politician (her ex-husband). I recall her saying that she fell into the career in scrapbooking when she really was intending to just be a stay at home mom. Then, when they got divorced, it was a blessing that she had the means to support herself and her children through the time before she met Aaron. I recall her also commenting about how she never saw herself having a family structure other than traditional family with husband & kids, not having a blended family or children with close extended families (their other parents and those parents new spouses and possibly other children).

To be fair, Ali seems to have pictured a number of different existences at one time or another. Including, but not necessarily limited to, marine biologist, attorney, salesperson, graphic designer, full-time wife and mother, scrapbooking personality, politician’s wife (ala Hillary Clinton or Claire Underwood perhaps), and Oprah-esque influencer. I remember how stimulated and engaged she was when she was actively supporting her ex with his political career. She showed real political savvy too in the way she communicated publicly about the conclusion of their marriage. And she has said politics is still a big deal for her. I think she could be a really interesting and effective politician if she tried. Edited to add: She was also hugely successful in the fundraiser she was part of for Autism Speaks www.blueoregon.com/2007/03/kevin_bacon_ali/

Well in that respect “completely different existence” applies to many of us just rolling with the punches divorce hands us. For me it really sucked being the Sunday school teacher mom who had a kid on every hip and double chin and couldn’t go grocery shopping alone-and tossed to the side for his childhood sweetheart who had acquired a nasty methamphetamine and heroin habit in the years they were apart. And my oldest followed suit, claiming her stepmom was the only one there for her. :eye roll: I sound bitter because I am because I let him convince me for years that I wasn’t good enough. And now I know I’m better. Better than he knew. Did I ever think I would end up married to MY high school sweetheart?!?! No!! I like to say I’m living in an alternate universe. I’m me, but I’m a better version of the me who settled for lukewarm 20 years ago. I’m the me I should have been all along. It takes a long time to let go of those older versions of yourself. I’m sure Ali has these same revelations too.

I love my husband and the life we have together very much, but he is not my first husband or my daughter's biological father (although he acts like it). And, this is not what I expected for sure, but I love it and I am a better person for it. People who go through struggles end up stronger and better people for it, it seems like you have experienced that yourself as well. I'm happy to hear you are in such a good place now! I definitely agree that life has its twists and turns for everyone, I just think that was what Ali was getting at with that comment.

I'm going to give my 2 cents.. as a scrapper remembering the first week in the life... I stopped following Ali as I found it super repetitive. And I failed numerous times on her projects. Then someone mentioned it on a different chat, and then it made it clear. It is her job to make it look simple.
