I posted this on the SC thread but decided to start a new AE only thread. Feel free to bitch about or praise Ali and AE Designs here. So the new AE story kit is previewed for subscribers. The theme is time and they included a sheet of number stickers. Why in the fuck would you only include two 1s on a sheet of stickers in a kit about time? There are 2 sheets included but with all the times that include 1, there should have been at least four 1s on one sheet. If you use 24 time format, you're especially screwed.

I give them a tiny bit of credit for not sending that cork set *again,* but yeah...they totally messed that up

I think it's a fair amount of #1's, however I think they should have included more 0's. If I'm doing a layout about time, chances are it a going to be 7:00, or 5:00, or 12:00.

Yes, it's good if you're doing that. But otherwise it's not enough 1's on a sheet to make a single clock face. Seems very short sighted for a "custom" package about time.

And what if you want to document something that happened at 11:11? All ones are used. If you do 11:00 then all your ones AND zeros are used up on one sheet. I agree with zero as well. There should be more zeros. There should be at minimum 4 ones and 4 zeros per sheet. Minimum.

They should have had a sheet of just zeros and then some more ones on the first sheet. What galls me is the add on prices, 3.99 for 8 punched out circles? ?? WTF? First off, i imagine most of us have a circle punch or 5 so it isn't like that is a an obscure shape, second of all they aren't even special paper or a special pattern that I can see. I could easily create identical looking circles in less time then it is taking me to type this. Why would I pay 3.99 for those?

Man, that looks like an even thinner kit than the last several.

Another thing that irritates me. The timeline notepad. It has no description to say how many pages and even in the video, she says she has no idea how many pages it has.
Even if I wanted that notepad, I sure wouldn't blindly pay 7.99 for an unknown number of pages.
I do like the stamp set this month. I can see myself using the digital clock numbers stamped in red on pictures, and I have a lot of stamps with numbers, but none like that. So I'm happy with the stamp. The kit, not so much.

This is what grates my nerves--she really is full of herself. I really liked her and her products for a while, until I didn't. I think that's what it really came down to. $8 for a notepad? $3 for 8 little paper circles. $20 (minimum) for a super skimpy kit. Seriously...that's just insanity. I can't believe so many are willing to pay those prices!

There are never enough 1s and 2s and 0s. Not if you're using them for times or for dates. So at least make an effort and double up on those numbers. I would rather have smaller numbers but more of them. (Kelly Purkey knows how to make a sticker sheet with a usable number of letters/numbers.)
And that little pad is cool looking - a really useful little thing I could imagine a lot of people throwing into their cart for a lot of different projects, if it was priced under $5. A printed pad with a magnet on the back runs a dollar, maybe $3 at most, at Target/the dollar store/the grocery store. I might tolerate an extra couple of bucks for the design and style, the AE name. But not $8. Nope. It would have to be an inch or two thick for me to start considering paying $8 for it. If it was $3 I would probably buy a few of them.
The theme is good, I can imagine using the prompts in a lot of ways, it looks good overall. But the more I looked at the main Story kit the more I noticed there just isn't much to it. Was it always so thin? 10 double-sided cards total? I used to get the digital kit so it's harder to get a sense of quantity.

Take a look at pics of the early ones- First, Gather, am/pm, Little Things. You'll be shocked at how much better they were!

Yeah in the video she mentioned you could stamp the two halves together to make a whole circle but I know I won't be able to line that up perfectly. I'm not as annoyed with that, because I have plenty of circle punches that I could use to make a claim close face.

I remembering signing up for the very first kit site unseen, and was not disappointed. Boy that ship has long sailed.

I have always been and am honestly still an Ali product fan but I would really like to ask her about this. Idk that I would get an answer but it is a huge difference.

I have always been and am honestly still an Ali product fan but I would really like to ask her about this. Idk that I would get an answer but it is a huge difference. I'm an AE product fan as well. I love both the story stamps and the AE shop stamps. They are my most used stamps that I have. I was not an early adopter of the kits/stamps so I never knew they had thinned out that much. I am a current subscriber and the only thing that is keeping me from dropping the kit sub once I am able to, is that with both kits, I get the digital kit as well. I've been playing with the digital kit by recoloring and resizing, and either adding to my photos as digital or printing them out as embellishments. So I want to keep the digital and physical stamp, so I'm basically getting the physical kit for free. If I didn't get the digital with it, I'd drop the physical kit.

I love Ali product but I just refuse to pay the price. The only time I've bought anything from her is a WITL kit in 2015 and when she had a $5 code for two months. I would sub to these kits but they're so so light for the cost.
The chipboard bundles just put me off completely. It's a basic memory keeping supply. Order thousands of units and sell them for half the cost. You'll keep a lot more people happy and interested in your brand.

I was excited about this topic, but I'm disappointed in both kits. I honestly can't see myself using those big numbers or those clock face stickers and there's not much left in the kit after that. And the stamp, I don't really care for the digital numbers, and the rest of the sayings seem kind of superficial for such a deep and complex topic. I assume that workshop content will be good, but I can't justify buying either kit.

Unfortunately I don't think we'd ever get a satisfactory answer. Just more of their "we appreciate your honest feedback" garbage. I think the truth of it is that she's charging so much for disappointing products because she can. Ali has tons of fangirls who want a lifestyle just like the one she's presenting. No idea if that's sustainable for her long term, but at the moment the $25 chipboard is flying off the shelves. Lol

People used to worship the ground April Foster walked on and look where she ended up.

Lol Yeah she's charging for the extras now that used to be kit components because people ARE paying for it. But it won't last and she'll run her business into the ground. I mean why else is she reviewing glasses and selling cheap tank tops? Because her scrapbook products aren't paying the bills.

I'm subbing to the story kit and the story stamp, I'm not crazy about the stamp this month, and I particularly don't like that you've to line up the semi circles to make a clock I'm just not that steady it would take me forever
I like the story kit, I love the rubber words and the acrylic word, I actually really like the clock but that's cause my sister is due a baby in November and I totally see using the clock in a when you were born layout
I do want the 3x8 notepad but the same as the rest of the addons it is highly overpriced
