I actually really like the basics release stuff and think I'm going to buy a lot of it! When I saw the sneaks I didn't want the stories by the year kit because of the weekly title cards... I don't need those. Although I do weekly, that is where I use most of the 4x6 cards I currently have and I would get bored with them being the same all the time. But, I really like the rest of the kit and the box it comes in. I am asking a friend if she wants to split the kit, but if not I'll probably still get it and just use some of the weekly cards here and there. Lots of the other cards have designs that are repeated from previous kits, but they are all good designs that I can see myself using again. I know I don't need the kit, I have so many cards in my stash, but I really like it and feel like it's a decent price point for what you get so I'm planning on picking it up. I am going to skip the stamp sets. I already have most of the rereleases (whoops? haha) and, while I like the alphas, I have a lot of alpha stamps already and don't feel like these are different enough from ones I already have to justify them. The bundled basics kit is just too expensive so I'm not going with that. I added up the prices of everything separately and basically buying the bundle gets you the pouch for free, and I don't want the pouch anyways (I like them, I just have a lot of them). Quite a few of the items I could pass on so I am just going to get the pieces I really want... the chipboard alphas and numbers for sure. Then maybe some of the other pieces. The only embellishments I know I don't want are the tab stickers (I have so many of these I got a huge color theory pack once during a MEGA MEGA SALE at SC and I prefer to use avery index tabs anyways) and the cork shapes (just not a huge fan of cork anymore). I don't really need to buy all this stuff, but I really like it and am excited for this release so I'm going to go with it. I didn't buy anything at the DD release this year so this just makes up for that, right?

I kinda like some of the stamps, but I’m sure I’m not going to like the price. Lol

I thought I wanted the Stories by the Year kit based on the sneaks, but now I'm not sure. I don't need the weekly cards either, but they're half the kit. The colors are so primary--I'm afraid it will be too much for a whole year. I think I'll decide when I know how much the shipping fees are to Europe. I might buy the digital version instead.

The puffy alphas/numbers in the basic pack are priced lower than DD, for the same design - $1 less.....since they are colours that I can easily use in my DD - I will probably pick them up. I like the chipboard alphas and numbers, but on the fence as to whether I will get them. Unsure about the basic cards......

Even if you don’t want the week cards in the kit, I am assuming they are one sided and you could use the backs for some nice blank cards to stamp on. Trying to match whites for that drives me crazy. I have almost used up the little stash I had when AE released some blank journaling cards and am ready to start sacrificing the plain side of cards I won’t use. Just a thought if you are on the fence about it.

I'm considering buying a class or two during the Black Friday sale that Ali is having but would love feedback on which of them you'd recommend and if any that I'm looking at are not great. Here are the classes that I'm considering: Hello Story 2 (which isn't included in the sale but still something I'm considering) Empty Nest Start to Finish Travel #1 Stories of Travel Travel Product Play Travel Product Play 2 Thanks in advance for any feedback!

Is Start to Finish the recent class that came out around the time of the Roam SK? If so, I loved that class. Ali’s Ireland album was a departure from her usual format and Pam Baldwin’s Universal Studios album was truly mind blowing. The other contributors were fine, too.

I really like the new Stories by the Year kit but I am thinking of getting the digital version. I always print my journalling anyway, and this allows me to change the colours on the cards to go with my monthly spreads. They are the kind of designs I like and use often. I also like the Ali stamp alpha set but it's quite expensive so I probably won't get it. I love the asterisks chipboard and a few other things but I have to wait and see about shipping to Europe.

$100 for the AE Basics kit. $100 for stickers. She has officially lost her damn mind.

And 99 dollars for a bunch of basic alphas numbers and labels? No freaking thanks. I literally ran to this thread when I just got the launch email and I saw that kit was $99. 99 DOLLARS FOR SOME ALPHAS AND STICKERS. DOUBLE YOU TEE EFF. It equates to $5 per set of item(s) (not including the pouch) which I think is extortionate when you consider it means that the round label sticker sheets costs $5 for the three. Never in my wildest dreams would I personally drop $100 on a kit. I'd absolutely spend $100 over a period of time, but I wouldn't be able to justify spending it on one bundle.

It really appeals to me because I've lost my Citrus Twist kit subscription due to them closing the subscription side of the shop, and it wont be long before I am desperate for new cards. But I won't use the weekly cards, and with 25 unique designs of the 3x4 cards, repeated 4 times... nah. I'll get bored quickly. I don't like using the same card twice in my albums unless it's one I absolutely adore.

I wanted to order the kit for $29 but shipping is $10.11 (I live in Arizona). Ugh.

Here are the classes that I'm considering: Hello Story 2 (which isn't included in the sale but still something I'm considering) Empty Nest Start to Finish Travel #1Stories of Travel Travel Product PlayTravel Product Play 2 Thanks in advance for any feedback! I've taken the bolded classes and I loved them all and would recommend. Hello Story 2: I haven't finished it yet, I only made it through the first two lessons of the three. I was disappointed there wasn't as much content as Hello Story 1, but it is a lower price and more recent content so definitely worth it. The general concepts were not groundbreaking, but she really put effort into her projects and they were all inspiring. Start to Finish Travel #1: I think this was one of my favorite classes Ali has offered, especially for the price. Her album was totally different from anything she'd done before, both in design and story concept, and it helped me think of new ways to document travel/frame stories in my albums. I thought the contributor albums had varying success, but the class is worth it for Ali's content alone... and Morgan's album is pretty amazing too. Stories of Travel: I really enjoyed this class also, but I really value flip throughs of projects and this included a flip through of all the travel albums Ali had made up to that point, and a process of creating a whole large travel album. I felt the remaining content, for what to document before/during/after travel was interesting, but it didn't add a ton for me because I have been scrapbooking for over a decade so many of the ideas were things I had seen before/thought of myself, but I also found value in seeing it all compiled in one place and it helped motivate me to be more on top of my travel documenting. Travel Product Play: I enjoyed this class, I think my favorite was Amy's album, but most of the projects were at least fun to see. I think if you were deciding between this one and Start to Finish Travel, I would go with Start to Finish, but this one is good also. I also want to note that I skipped Travel Product Play 2 after it got poor reviews here, but I don't recall exactly what was said. It still might be worth it with the reduced price.

When does Ali’s BF sale start? Past projects sale starts Friday through the weekend and the digitals sale is Monday.

Agreed. Not even tempted to look. They really like holding on to old, stale inventory.

I couldn't even be bothered to scroll all the way down. I would have picked up a few things if they had marked them down to a decent price. Not enough of a discount to tempt me on anything.

A thousand retailers are competing for my BF attention today and Ali's shop has a non-sale. Missed opportunity. Moving on...

I just do not understand that mentality. I bought so much shit I don’t need today amd yesterday from small retailers. People who WANT to sell stuff.

I remember when Ali (and SC) used to have good sales - like when I picked up some old 6x8 DD albums for $5 each and grab bags that were just stuffed. Now their sales are laughable and it’s products that are YEARS old. No thanks.

I remember the days of when Black Friday sales were dreamed about, weeks in advance. We'd plan our other holiday shopping around when SC would make their sale start & after multiple checkouts, we would all compare what we each had found. Now I cant be bothered.
