My envelope arrived yesterday and the entire side of it was open. I still haven't compared to the website to see if anything fell out in transit. But it was like the seam on the side didn't hold shut. And really, I would much rather have the plastic pouch to hold all the contents than have all those individually wrapped cellophane packages. That where they need to be greener. The plastic pouches are reusable. THIS!!!! ^^^

Okay, so a workaround to ensuring the new cardboard envelope is enveloped in a shipping envelope is to order an add-on.

Everything still came in the new cardboard envelope. I think the reason nothing was damage was cause of the larger stamp set acting as padding to protect everything.

Never mind then. 😖 My SBTM just arrived in the new messy circle mailer, sealed, and in a larger mailer with the puffy heart add-on. 🤷🏻♀️

And there’s Ali’s email, late Friday afternoon, telling us they are changing the packaging and oops, their bad for not saying something sooner. No comment about whether we’d see any additional value added to the kits to make up the difference of cost of the cheaper cardboard vs the zipper pouch. But I’m sure we all know there won’t be any added value. 🙄

Can you post the link? If you look at the email in a web browser, you should be able to see the link. Dear Subscribers, You may have noticed new packaging for your recent Story Kit or Stories By The Month subscription. One of our company goals has been to move in more sustainable directions with our packaging and this is one of the first steps in that process. We recognize that we offer paper goods and embellishments that often include a lot of plastic packaging and we are continuing to work with our vendors to make changes where we can that still protect the products as they make their way to your home. The actual change in packaging happened a little earlier than anticipated and we apologize for nor reaching out in advance to let you know about this change. Clear communication is always our goal, in addition to providing you with products that can help you tell your stories, and we could have done a better job letting you know this change was coming. Our team is truly excited about the new packaging and look forward to the upcoming kits. We recognize that some of you may prefer the previous packaging, but we hope that the contents of the kits continue to help you tell the stories of your life in creative and wholehearted ways. As always, thank you for being a part of this storytelling community. AED Team

The worst part is that the video on her web site still shows her pulling the story kit items out of a nice storage pouch.
It's rotten to leave that up when there is clearly no storage for the supplies anymore except the dirty mailing envelope.
Bad calls all around.

I just looked at the new releases. WHY are there 3 of every letter of the puffy alphas and no photos of the 2nd sheet? Who needs 3 Qs? Why aren't there 6 or 9 Es and As and Is? It's like the people desgning them don't actually use them. I am frustrated because I love the font but for $6 I'm going to get one or two words out of it because there are only 3 of each vowel! ARGH!!!

I can't handle the inconsistency in the width of the letters within the same word. Same. I'm not a subscriber but I would sometimes pick things up on sale. Her new way of writing makes it certain I won't be buying her sale stamps. I looked at the 'whole' stamp and really don't that difference in widths in the word. I'm sure others love it. But for me, it's a 'no'.

I predict they will come out with a new “storage system” for your kits that you can purchase separately, and they will be…plastic pouches!

Would you still buy from AE if Ali was no longer involved?
For me no, unless the business model morphed into SC of the past, with a blog, message board, way to save/share designs from DT/regular members....then maybe it would become a forum that I would participate in and regularly buy from. But truth be told, that's a long shot.My interest in AE product is pretty much dying off. I don't like the new hand writing style, and I feel like her products don't have anything new to offer.

It would have been a definite no for me not so long ago, but: 1) she's already not that involved in scrapbooking in general and in her brand in particular (IMO) 2) I don't plan on buying any more from AE. Her prices aren't cheap to begin with, but VAT and shipping fees to Europe make it much too expensive, 3) I felt that Laura and Pam were just great on their own. I'd have listened to them chat with the other DD members for much longer. Last year's prep party didn't convince me the brand could survive without her, but this year's changed my mind.

No, I don’t think so. I follow Ali and buy her products because I enjoy both her perspective and also her style (although to a lesser degree nowadays). What do I think is best for her brand (just in case she asks, ha ha)? Pull back, scale down. Forget all the kits kits that have no meaning (quarterly scrapbook kits? SBTM?) and focus on stuff like DD, WITL, etc.

I’ve often thought Ali put herself between a rock and a hard place with her place in this business. She makes more money by providing more product options, and while this thrills a large percentage of her fan base, I get the sense she’d like to scale back in the *stuff*, but minimalism doesn’t bring in the money. I imagine she feels like she’s on a treadmill or hamster wheel to some degree, and not sure how to exit without it all collapsing.

What brought me to her was her style of writing and her creative way of incorporating it onto scrapbook pages. I've ridden along with her and enjoyed the DD and WITL and OLW. But lately it's morphed into product heavy documenting. And I get it, she needs to grow her brand. It's just that the growth isn't in the direction I prefer. I knew that aligning with Inked would eventually lead to cheap products, mess ups, and eventually a middle finger to the customer. I would love to see her focus more on what got her here. Telling stories. Just show us how to tell stories in the magical way she does. I'd subscribe to that in a heartbeat. I'd throw my money at her. Right now, I've barely spent anything this year. Probably close to zero dollars.

This is an interesting question. I'm very new to scrapbooking, only found it due to wanting to scrapbook about my dogs, found AE via OLW, then liked DITL & WITL & DD. I subscribed to the Story Kits for about 6 months, didn't really make any "pages" out of the kits. In fact, I've been impressed with people who receive a kit and can immediately create wonderful multiple layouts. Like the "&". I was like, really, what the hell is this?? Then I was blown away with layouts people made with &. Ok, back to the AE question. I think her classes and her spin on her "Story" releases bring a good deal of value to the product. If I was randomly surfing and came across a kit called "Strong" from scrapbooker Irene Jones, I don't know whether I would pause to purchase, or even investigate further. Knowing there is a class attached (you still get a class with these?) with ideas to create, to pursue, adds value to the purchase. So, the AE "presence" adds value. If a scrapbooker/memory keeper had never heard of AE, perhaps they might just pass by the idea of the "Strong" or "Awesome" kit to spend money elsewhere. I was reading random AE blog posts from the past, in search of ideas for my OLW for 2022, and it seems like AE has been aware of her own issues with social media overload for quite a long time (I was reading a post from 2014 or 15)-my perception-so I can see why she is trying to step away from social media. But her brand, to me, is still closely attached to her persona. If there was an sixth month gap of AE releases, without any personal involvement from her, would diminish the value of the product. It could be Cindy Lou Who releasing the product. We need to see the wizard behind the curtain.

Would you still buy from AE if Ali was no longer involved? I don't know. I've always liked her style/products/color schemes (well, not always the color schemes, but most of them...) but I've also liked that she offers something different and usable for me. I like DD and WITL because there's a purpose and a start/finish to the project. I bought so many class kits from SC and never made the project, but I can do DD & WITL. I had always liked the Story/Stamp kits until some time in the last year when they became either repetitive or too introspective (which isn't how or what I scrapbook). I never minded her handwriting, in limited amounts at least, but not since she switched to a more digital method (don't like the style of most of her last stamp releases...) She seems to still offer the different types of embellishments that drew me to the SC kits initially (that they don't necessarily offer any more). So I think if the style were to change too much, that could be a deal breaker. There are some artists that design for SC that I do not like their style, but don't mind someone like Geralyn from IACB.

While I'm not crazy about the new handwriting style, I love how she thinks, I love the products. These products really help me put a lot of constructive thought into my memory keeping. Her presence is essential, IMHO.

I've been a fan of Ali Edwards ever since the Creating Keepsakes days. I was drawn to her clean style and honest journaling. I have a couple of her books, and the layouts in them don't seem dated because they were not overly embellished. I have been signing up for OLW since 2015, and although I love the class, I will probably opt out this coming year because it has become so expensive. I can always use past classes to guide me. I've purchased a few other things here and there but didn't start subscribing to the Story Kits until January. I will probably stop once my year is up. I think I liked the "idea" of the story kits more than the reality. I will probably never use a piece of chipboard that says "All the Feels" because that's not the way I talk. I still enjoy Ali's classes, though, and that's what I see as having the greatest value. I really don't need more "stuff," but it is fun to get something in the mail. I value Ali's contribution to the scrapbooking community, but I'm disappointed in the lack of communication from the company. I'm sure I'll still pick up a few things on sale, but the bulk of my purchases will probably be from Scrapbook.com, Cocoa Daisy, and Michael's from now on.

Probably not. I was thinking about this, and honestly, I'm at the point where I want to invest very little in AE supplies in the future. I'll most likely cancel SBTM after the December kit, and then I think I'll cut back to no more than $100/150 for the year with AE for 2022. I know I didn't spend nearly that amount this year (excluding the SBTM kits). I was thinking if KP ever left Paper Person (and instead turned it over to someone else), I'd easily quit buying because I like her aesthetic and unique approach to current events.

Does anyone know if there’s any way to watch AE’s class videos offline? They’re on Vimeo, but I don’t think they’re public since they’re gated for each class.

There is only one add-on this month? Or am I missing something? Sequins, Hanukah stamp and an old DD journal...I'm thinking something else is stuck on a boat (right next to the sticker sheet for the SBTM kit)... I'm not sure why the Hanukah stamp is an add-on, seems like it should be a regular shop item.
