I am busy doing a bunch of garden harvest related stuff today, so no scrapbook pages for me. But since one of my goals this month is to use more mixed media, I thought I might be able to prep a couple of pages for some crafting tomorrow or Friday. So I grabbed the last two sheets of the perfect colour cs, and headed down to my mixed media lair in the basement. What could go wrong? Well, let's just say the stenciling did not turn out the way I had planned. Never reading labels, I assumed "texture paste" was the same as any other embossing paste, and slathered it on. It was white, but since I wanted a blue/teal colour, I spritzed the top with mists. Easy peasy... But when I went to check, I discovered that the texture paste had cracked, like crackle paste. And the blue had run into the cracks, emphasizing them. Now that might be a look I want to achieve at some other time, but NOT for these pages!!! Did I tell you these were the LAST two sheets of that colour??? Now I am just mad...

Oh that is frustrating. Can you salvage them for another project? It sounds like they turned out kinda cool. I hope you can get your hands on some replacement cardstock soon.

Another example of why a scrapbooker can never have too much cardstock! Happy shopping...
(In the meantime, I hope you can put these papers aside & challenge yourself to use them on a future layout/project.)

I hate when stuff like that happens, especially when you don't have a replacement so there's no do-over. But yout layouts are always creative so I'm sure you'll be able turn this around and come up with something great.

I hate when that happens! As much paper as I have, I hate messing up on things lol. Maybe you can salvage it? When I've used texture paste, I mix a little acrylic paint to get the color I want( maybe try that way with a light coat over what you already have?

Oh, No! That's always so frustrating. Although texture/modeling paste shouldn't crack. I hope you can salvage the page. If not hope you can find the same color cardstock, maybe at your card class this weekend, and work on a different page in the meantime.

Thanks for the sympathy, Ladies! Of course I don't have the patience to wait until I am in town on Saturday to replace the cs before I finish these two pages. I tried the stenciling again (on the navy cs I had salvaged) with white gesso last night, and although it turned out "okay", I wasn't happy with it b/c I thought it lost its effect not being on the full bg page. In the end I gave up on the stencil, and just daubed the paint directly onto some white cs with a TH round ink applicator. Threw everything I could think of that was round onto the page to offset the linear photo positioning, and here it is: I am happy with it, but since one of my monthly goals was to use more texture paste and stencils, I guess I will have to find some other project to do that with... BTW, I uploaded the two pages separately into the 2peas Gallery.

I was looking for textured paste the other day at JoAnn's. I didn't know if it was all the same. Has anyone a brand name or store that you get yours that you like? I just want it for stencils on card stock. grammadee it turned out lovely.
