.... purchased e-books to this new device, right?
If I later find the missing Kindle, will I be able to have the same book on both devices at the same time?
Thanks!

Yes, you should be fine. My husband and I both have Kindle Fires and I do all the downloading of books. Everything I download appears on both of our Kindles since they are both registered to my Amazon account.

Yes, as long as they are registered to your Amazon account, they will all have access to your purchased ebooks.

I would make sure you de-register your Kindle if it was lost outside of your home. If someone finds it, they can go on and buy as many books as they want under your credit card.

Thanks! So does that mean that if I'm logged into my account when I purchase the new Paperwhite it will be registered to my account, or is there something else I would need to do?

Amazon will automatically register the new Kindle to your account. I can't remember if it's done at the time of purchase or when you turn on your Kindle. (Because they can be given as gifts.) All books purchased on Amazon will be there when you link the device to your account.

Check the "manage your devices" section and ensure the new kindle is set as your default device.

I had not thought of that! I am 99.999% sure it is misplaced at home or that it was accidentally thrown out, but chances are beyond slim that it is somewhere outside of the house... I can picture picking it up from the bathroom vanity on MOnday when preparing for our dd's arrival (home for two weeks after 3 years in EU! - squeeee!) - I have looked pretty much everywhere and can't find it. Underwear drawer, microwave, freezer... I've looked!

Yes, I did exactly the same thing. Old Kindle turned up several months after I purchased a new one, and now DH uses it.
