I would love fall if it wasn't followed by winter. I loathe winter. So, I don't love fall because it means winter.is.coming. Me too! It's not that fall is that bad, it's just that it means winter's coming. I didn't mind winter when we lived in Colorado (Denver area). It's much further south, so the days were longer. Winter in Denver brings many, many sunny days and it's often quite warm. And I absolutely love snow, so those periodic snow days were the best.

I need fall. Summer is always too hot for me and I don't enjoy heat like some people do. Fall rocks my world!

Zella, I live about 40 miles north of you and I agree completely. I did not think it was ever going to stop raining this year and even though we did end up with a decent (and smoky) summer I am so sad to see it go. All I see in the future is at least 6 to 8 months of rain, cold and gray - uck!!! Often spring is just an extension of winter here Isn't that the truth? Spring didn't happen this year really at all. It wasn't terribly cold, just so wet and grey. And as I was reading up on our records, I was reminded that we had a major rain event in June; just over an inch on June 15th. Or as I call June, Junuary.

I love summer. Love love love summer. Wish it was summer all year. Couldn't care less about seasons. I like warm weather (though Tucson, where I lived for 13 years, was a bit much) and I love long days. I never tire of feeling sunshine on my skin. When hubby retires we are planning to move somewhere warm and sunny, though we're not sure where. I don't like fall. I'm sad when August becomes September. The weather here in September is often still nice, which helps, but the shortening days become very noticeable. Yes, I do have SAD (seasonal affective disorder). I haven't needed to use my lights yet, but I do own them. This time of year I just start thinking, "Okay, I just have to hang on for 7 months then it'll be May again." Yeah, that's not even much of an exaggeration. The weather here in the PNW is much like in southern England where I was born and raised, and Seattle's about 4 degrees farther south, so the long summer days and dark winter days are also what I knew as a child. I'm not sure where the absolute craving for light, sun and warmth came from. So you can keep your "crisp" weather, the turning leaves, scarves, layered outfits. Heck, I'd even give up my pumpkin spice latte if I could just have summer 365. This is me too!! I feel ya! I think what I dislike most is the shorter days!!!

It's hot as hell in the summer and it feels like your entire body has been stuck inside an oven. I LOVE fall. September is usually my favorite month, but it's been in the 50's already this week. Spring can kiss my ass. It's rarely that warm, then there's rain, snow, and BAM it's summer.

Logically, I can appreciate fall. It is beautiful. But, I am with the ladies that say the impending gloom of winter has dampened my appreciation for fall. If only it was followed by something good instead of bleak, cold, misery.

Early fall, while it is still warm enough to not need a coat and I can pretend it is summer, is ok. But by mid October the days will be short enough I get the serious urge to hibernate. Unfortunately I must go to work. If I could spend mid october to mid march in a semi hibernation mode... only go out to buy groceries and craft supplies, not need to go to work, sleep when I want (which would be about 14 hours a day) then winter would be ok. eh, forget going out for groceries and craft supplies.. let's get them delivered!
I hate to cold. It makes my joints hurt even if I am warm it is like my bones know it is cold out.

I hate summer. I just HATE the heat. I love fall in New England, but hate it here in Virginia where it's just like Summer Lite. Even winter is often too warm for me. Give me the cold any day of the year!!! Going to be back in NE next week and just cannot wait. If it's boiling hot I will be crazed!!!

I love fall. It's always been my favourite season.
The changing leaves are beautiful. The smells are beautiful - apples, caramel, pumpkin, cinnamon. I love the crisp air - it feels to me like Mother Nature has cleaned the air.
I love cuddling up in a warm, soft sweater, or a scarf or blanket.
I start making cozy comfort foods again that I didn't make in the hot summer - chili, soups, stews, homemade mac & cheese.
I love spending my sundays watching football all day, and having one of those comfort meals while we watch the prime time game.
And last but definitely not least - I love Halloween. My son was born on Halloween. Just one more great thing about this season to me.

Sorry, I love Fall. I like the coziness of it, the changing of the leaves, all that stuff. But I don't feel like we really have been having distinct seasons here. Usually we have some really hot days in late September/early October. We'll see. Then DD texted DH earlier and said it was snowing in the Sierra's where she lives. Wonder if it is going to be an early winter.

I'm in Florida. It's summer - with temps in the 90s and 100s and suffocating humidity - for 9 months out of the year. I despise summer and can't wait for fall. When it gets into the 70s-80s and the humidity drops and we can walk further than 5 feet without becoming dripping wet with sweat.
Seriously. Running the AC on Christmas day down here is the norm. When fall comes I know we will get a little relief from the hellish heat and air that is like a hot, wet blanket. At least for a while.

I love the crisp mornings of fall, and the cooler temperatures, and I don't even mind the rain (a little...not the months of constant rain we had last winter) but I do not like the shorter days and the fact that fall means winter is coming. I think it might be a rough one for us in the PNW...we've already had winter-like downpours and a hail storm. I hope it doesn't mean it'll be a snowy winter (eastern WA peas I know you always have a lot of snow!).

So interesting to see the differences in fall in various regions of the US, Canada, and Europe. I'm in the South, here autumn is fantastic and my favorite season. The humidity is finally gone, the days are warm and the evenings a bit chilly. I love how crisp the air is and the sky is a perfect blue almost every day. I also love wearing sweaters and boots. I won't need a coat til late November. No that bitch winter is a whole different creature. I hate winter .

I would say Fall is my favorite season but the fact that I am still running my A/C, I'm not really enamored with Fall this year. I'm a big fan of September - December. January - March sucks for me because I work non-stop.

I hate winter, but fall in New England is really something special. Our town has a pumpkin festival that's so much fun.

The only thing I do not like about Autumn is that it means Winter comes next. I love the Winter holidays but I really hate the cold temps, the occasional snow/ice.

I'm with you OP. Fall is my least favorite season. I LOVE summer, so it's always depressing to me when the days start getting shorter and the leaves fall off the trees. Plus I live in Minnesota, so to me, fall means 6 months of cold weather is coming .

My friend and I were just questioning about how anyone could not love fall. I love everything about it.
1. Fall 2. Winter 3. Spring 4. Summer

Every season has its delights and downsides. I love fall and spring most, probably because the days are a more pleasant temperature, but I think a lot of it has to do with where you live. I lived in Virginia for nearly 37 years, and it got pretty hot and humid during the summer, so summer was definitely not my favorite season. Now I live in Texas, and very little has changed except that summer lasts longer, so fall and spring are still my favorite seasons.
I do sympathise, though. My daughter and youngest son have issues with SAD. My son has his "happy light" as he calls it. He got it when he was in Alaska for 2 years.

Whatcha talkin' 'bout, Willis!?!
Fall is my favorite season - clear sunny days with low humidity, chilly nights, colorful leaves, apple cider, hay rides, cardigans, corduroy pants, scarfs, plaids, etc.

Who are you monsters? I LOVE FALL. I think you’ll see a common thread in the not-fall-fans - a lot of us are in the PNW. Our fall lacks the charm it has in many other places. I loved fall in Minnesota. Crisp, clear, colorful, beautiful. Here? Grey, wet, grey, wet, darker, wetter.
