"Price’s use of private jets represents a sharp departure from his two immediate predecessors, Sylvia Mathews Burwell and Kathleen Sebelius, who flew commercially in the continental United States. HHS officials have said Price uses private jets only when commercial travel is not feasible. But many of the flights are between large cities with frequent, low-cost airline traffic, such as a trip from Washington to Nashville that the secretary took on June 6 to make a morning event at a medication distributor and an afternoon speech. There are four regular nonstop flights that leave Washington-area airports between 6:59 a.m. and 8:50 a.m. and arrive in Nashville by 9:46 a.m. CT. Sample round-trip fares for those flights were as low as $202, when booked in advance on Orbitz.com. Price’s charter, according to HHS’ contract with Classic Air Charter, cost $17,760." They hate the government. Except when it benefits them. Cuz they're "hard workers" who "deserve it", unlike the rest of the working stiffs. www.politico.com/story/2017/09/21/tom-price-private-charter-plane-flights-242989

Who knew fiscal conservatism involved unnecessary private jets. There is so much hypocrisy. So much.

Supposedly private flights are about saving time so he can reach the American public rather than spending time in airports. Ok, sure.

Supposedly private flights are about saving time so he can reach the American public rather than spending time in airports. Ok, sure. Ha ha, that's a nice way for them to try and spin it. "For example, Price took a Learjet-60 from San Diego to the Aspen Ideas Festival — a glamorous conference at the Colorado resort town — that arrived at 3:33 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, June 24, nearly 19 hours before his scheduled panel. That flight likely cost more than $7,100, according to one charter jet agency estimate." Or Treasury Secretary Mnuchin requesting a government jet for his honeymoon. Seriously? And it's murky whether he used a government jet for him and his wife to go view the eclipse.

Only the people in Kentucky cared about the eclipse.

I say the people are in the airports..use your time wisely.
And, he's getting ripped off on his private jets unless he's getting a blow-ey in the backseat.

He appears to like to suck off the teat of government subsidies more than even despised “welfare queens.” Subsidizing his champagne tastes in travel is definitely more important than helping families put food on the table <eye roll>.

It's this hypocrisy that kills me. A poor person trying to use food stamps is abusing the system, not making smart decisions, etc. Then this guy is unnecessarily spending thousands. I hate that there are different rules for the poor and the rich/powerful.

I saw video of him, back when he was still a lowly Congressman, complaining about the (Democratic) administration wasting the people's money by using private jets. I guess it's just another case of IOKIYAR.

I hate that there are different rules for the poor and the rich/powerful. This is their lifestyle! They don't even consider the costs, which is one of the reasons they don't get why health care is an issue for people who are willing to work and in fact DO work!! They same way that dt has already cost us more on travel then then in how many years for Obama.... His weekends n Bedminster have almost killed the small airports in the no flyzone, weekends is when they make their money to live on..

I guess you can justify just about anything. Glad he's at least being called out for it by the media.

In a way it doesn't even matter if it gets "called out" because NOTHING WILL HAPPEN TO HIM and nothing will change. THat's what gets me the most--the total, blatant hypocrisy. UGH.

I have an answer........... pay someone to be bumped of any flight..... $1000+, would be cheaper than what he has been doing!

I just saw where he has resigned. Wonder if he'll pay back any of the money he spent on those flights? Probably not.
