Jennifer Nettles. I wanna stab my ear drums with an ice pick when she comes on. I have to leave the room if she’s performing on any awards shows. ^^^^This times thousand!!! DD and I were once in a store, standing in line and forced to listen to her sing "stuuuuuck liiiikkke glllluuue" over and over. This happened several years ago and DD still brings it up and says how terrible that was! Also, Pat Benatar!

Love James Taylor. Saw him last year. I love him too. Have been excited to see him 3 times in our town at a 5,000 seat venue. Lucky you! That sounds lovely! I saw him at the Bridgestone in Nashville, which is too large to feel intimate, although he did give a fantastic performance.

We're beyond lucky to have a beautiful, fairly intimate outdoor venue here. Lately the acts coming to perform there are people I can't stand, or more likely, haven't heard of....

I'm pretty selective because the ticket prices are expensive. I missed out on Van Morrison recently because I found out too late and it was sold out (resale tickets were $700-3000 each!). I listen to XM, so I miss out on local radio concert announcements.

I don't think I've ever paid more than $200 for a ticket and that maybe happened once.

There's a few people mentioned whose music I don't like, but I think that's different to idea of "can't stand to listen to". For me it's Mariah Carey as well, that breathy warbley thing she does with her voice is like nails on a chalk board for me, I can't turn it off fast enough. And Miley Cyrus, I can't even listen to her talk or watch for that matter, she has the weirdest mouth/lips movements and everything just comes out as "neeen neeen neeen"
I don't mind natural vocal fry - Rod Stewart has always sounded like that when he speaks as well as when he sings, so it's not some pretentious affectation. Stevie Nicks in the same, I think she earned her 'fry' the good old fashioned way with the sex, drugs and rock & roll lifestyle. So with people like that it doesn't bother me but I hate it when people do it on purpose because they think it makes them sound sexy or sophisticated or whatever effect they think it has. Then it annoys me no end.

I can't stand Neil Young or Bob Dylan. My DH loves them. He's a sweetie and will listen to them when I'm not around. I return the favor.

Mariah Carey. I don't listen too many of the pop people.
I just wonder what voices people do like because I love so many of the ones that have been mentioned.

Anyone who caterwauls or screeches. Mariah Carey and the Cranberries are the worst.
I also hate Gloria Estefan's singing, Tom Petty, Springsteen, Tina Turner, and Darius Rucker.

yes!! I can't stand her voice! Ugh. Another one I really hate is Coldplay. All of their songs sound alike and the lead singer is so whiny! Ick.

Adele. Makes we want to rip my own ears off. Anyone whose voice is computerized. Anyone I can't understand and U-2. AAAHHH!! The blasphemy! I would listen to Adele sing a grocery list!!!! And I just saw U2 in New Orleans last week and it was a freaking religious experience! So so so good!!! My list: Belinda Carlisle...sounds like a bleating sheep Stevie Nicks ...every song she's ever sung has been in the same key and she has a range of about 5 notes. Just about every country artist ever. I cannot stand that nasaly, whiny sound. Billie Joe Armstrong...no, no I do not "have the time to listen to (you) whine"

I dislike many who've been listed. But most of them are in the past and I don't hear often anymore so it makes me nostalgic. Rod Stewart is a good example. I grew to hate many of his 70-80's song and cringed at his voice at the time. But now if I catch one in the drug or grocery store it makes me smile remembering all the dancing and late nights, and my former roommate who loved him.
I still don't play him at home/work/car. And having my high school or college music blaring at a pharmacy counter makes me laugh about how quickly time flies- I guess I really am old!
