I baked pumpkin breads last night, you know, for fall? I noticed it was eaten halfway in the office and then its still sitting there, unfinished. Which is odd. I went over to get a slice.. a hair. One of my long dark hairs is in there. OMG. WTH. I was wearing my hair slicked back in a pony yesterday when I baked. HOW THE HELL did a hair get in my pumpkin bread?! I seriously want to die of mortification. I'm a good baker. What must people be saying about me? I want to cry. Ugh.

It can happen to anyone who cooks. Don't beat yourself up.

Ugg that sucks. Do you often bring stuff to work? Then others must know you are a good clean baker so mistakes can happen.

Don't beat yourself up about it. It happens. To me it's not a big deal. I would eat anything you made.

Yeah, I've brought in stuff before, never a problem. Still, I don't think I'll ever bring anything in again. I feel awful.
Thanks for the kind words.

Oh man, that sucks. I think I would be the one going around and apologizing profusely.
They all know you, and that accidents happen.

Oh, I am so sorry. That is super embarrassing. But, anyone who cooks (and has long hair) has had this happen. Most people would be pretty forgiving.
I had a horrificly embarrassing thing happen the other day. I was texting back and forth with a woman I am planning a big activity with. She was driving me nuts with her comments, so I said out loud to my husband: "(name) is driving me NUTS!!" Then I look down at my phone and see a voice memo had just been recorded and sent to her! OMG!! So, I listen to it, and thank heaven it had cut her name off, and the rest of the phrase I had said in Chinese...So, I think I am safe, but, for a few minutes I was contemplating going into hiding for a few years.
I deserved it, though. You did not.
It'll blow over. (Hugs) Erin

Oh come on, it was a hair. No one died (did they?) Take in something else with a note that says 'this is to make up for the hairy pumpkin bread' add a smiley face and it'll all be good.

i do not bake/cook for others very often and it happened to me. it was a long blonde hair in banana bread.
ever since then, if i am making something smoothish.... i take a fork and swirl it around in it, pulling it up to see if anything "grabs".
sorry... that sucks. but it will be forgotten soon, not to worry.

I don't think I'm over reacting. Do you know how people are about getting grossed out about things? Have you never read any of the millions of threads on here all these years. I know better. Ugh. But thanks Lainey..I may just do that. Maybe buy one of those Trader Joe's kringle things.

I made a salad once and I tossed in the dressing right before serving. I stirred in a good old fashion house fly. How?? Don't know. When it's my turn to bring the salad to this group someone inevitably says something like "I will have croutons but no flies please". Yeah 2 years later and it never gets old lol

So...what if you make one of your really great breads, put it out and leave a sign that says: "guaranteed hair free!" With a smiley face on it. The folks who don't know will just eat it any way and the ones that saw the one with the hair will appreciate the humor and know that it won't happen again and eat it happily too.

Honestly? Yes its probably your hair baked in but it could have been someone else's hair who was cutting it fall into the plate (someone might not look too closely and see it's baked into the grain. lol)
I have VERY long dark hair. I have had my hair fall into food. It happens. I get grossed out at everything but hair doesn't totally gross me out. I mean, it doesn't really feel appetizing to me but it's not something I am going to go into hiding for.
I'd totally make something else or bring in the kringle and make the "hairy baked good" joke. It's really not the end of the world. Don't go crazy over it. A hair fell off your head. It happens.

I'm cringing with you! I think people are much less (insert any reaction) in real life than they are in threads here though, so I'll bet people were more laid back about it than you might be imagining in your head.
ETA in case that didn't make sense - I think the food threads with grossed out people are completely over exaggerated here. In real life, people are much less likely to freak out and want to crucify someone for something that happens more often than we'd ever want to know.

If that was me I would go right into the office and shout " who the heck has left a hair in my delicious bread" Then they would all look at each other accusingly and you'd be off the hook

Oh no!
Don't sweat it too much. It really could happen to anyone. I get it, though. I have a lot of curly hair, and always worry about it making its way into things I bake.

You know this hair is 100% yours? I mean it's a distinct colour and texture and has to be yours? I say that because mine could get into food, too, but everyone in my family has short hair and if there's a long one it's mine. If you can prove that beyond a reasonable doubt then you get a that sucks. If you just *think* it's yours then you get a and a it might not be then
