Here is what I want. I want more, better music. I won't be toting it around, I just want it for home.
I currently have a little jbl speaker thing that hooks up to my bluetooth on my phone.
I don't understand the bluetooth vs. wifi options? Is there a reason that I have to a portable thing?
What are my options? Any suggestions??

If you have Amazon Prime then I recommend an Alexa. Even DH said the sound is pretty good and he's a music guy. Plus you get access to Amazon music.
If you don't then I've got no ideas for you.
ETA: If you have Amazon Prime you could bluetooth Amazon Music to your JBL speaker. That would give you more choices for music.

We have Sonos speakers and love them. I have our music library on our main computer and you control it from there or any phone or tablet. It does need Wi-Fi connection. We use Spotify on it often but we don't have any other streaming subscriptions. I would suggest them if you had a large music library or listen to music often (we have them in most rooms so you can group them and have the music follow you throught the house. Way more than I would ever need but my dh is a music buff)

Where are you getting your music? If it's a streaming service like Spotify you will want to be listening to them on Wifi so it's free and not using your data - or make sure your songs are downloaded. But you want your phone to pair (wirelessly talk) to the speaker through Bluetooth. The speaker itself can be wireless or not depends what you'd prefer. I have a Bose wireless one that I charge and carry around the house, I like the portability.

I have a Bose stereo I got for my birthday. I like it as Alexa isn't available in Canada yet. I hook up via Blu Tooth to my stereo and listen to music like that. I like it a lot.

Another Sonos lover here. It's an awesome system with amazing sound. If you have multiple speakers they can play the same music all over, or you can have different music in other rooms Be careful getting stuff like Alexa and echo as I don't think they are fully integrated for Canadian users yet

I have speakers in a few rooms and I can play one at a time or several at once.

If I was to buy a system I would buy the Sonos. You can hear the speaker at Target. We have a soundbar with our television that has a very nice sound so I connect to that via bluetooth.

I'm no help ~ I usually listen to the Solid Gold Oldies on the TV via Comcast/Xfinity.

Wifi is how the internet “information” moves from the wires in your wall to your devices. Bluetooth is how wireless devices "speak" to each other, relaying the info.
As for speakers, there are a ton out there. You don't need the big ones anymore--the small ones have a high quality sound and are easier to move around the house and store when not in use.

A new Sonos user here based solely on Peas recommendations! I love them. I bought 2 units. I set one up in our 3-season room and one in our living room. I had friends over last week. I wanted music in the basement. I unplugged the living room unit and plugged it in in our basement. It worked seamlessly.
The sound from these speakers is fantastic!
My set up is wirelessly using our wi-fi. I control the music (iTunes) from either my phone or my iPad. Oh, and if I'm upstairs I can turn on the music downstairs!

My brother works for Sonos so I love all the recommendations for them. They really are fabulous speakers. We have them in every room of the house.

I also got a Bose system that I could use with my laptop or my iPod, etc... Sounds AWESOME. I could fit it all on a shelf and it has a round dial to easily adjust the sound or stop it. No prep! (I love the title of this thread!!)
