And what do you think of them?
I did not label this thread as having spoilers because I think it far game to talk about a pilot of a show. A lot of it is included in previews anyway but if you'd rather not find out what happens in the first episode of a show, be forewarned of possible... Spoilers...
So far I've tried The Good Doctor and Young Sheldon
The actor playing the autistic Good Doctor does a great job and it is well cast. It seems very unrealistic to me if for no other reason than he should have encountered so many other obstacles to becoming a doctor. The pilot focuses on his mentor and champion trying to get him hired at a hospital for an internship or residency. The young doctor has to participate in an interview. He would have had to do an interview for medical school. It's just hard to believe he would have gotten that far at that young an age without support (you find out why he doesn't have a support system in the episode and I liked seeing the flashbacks.) I like his frank approach to his colleagues and I'll watch another episode and see how it goes.
As for Young Sheldon, there was so much in the preview available online that I didn't find the actual show that funny or surprising. I think CBS made a mistake airing the pilot this week and then not bringing it back until November. It is a completely different look to the Big Bang Theory. You wouldn't know there was a connection if it wasn't obvious from the names and what we know of Sheldon's upbringing. DH is a die hard BBT fan, even singing the intro song each week. He walked out in the middle of Young Sheldon to make a phone call and didn't return. Not a good sign from a fan. It's already been picked up for the full season. I'll stick with it for awhile when it returns in November but on Thursday night it has a lot of competition.
What else is good this TV season?

I have Young Sheldon recorded and SWAT scheduled. The Good Doctor doesn't interest me at all.

I don't think there is anything new I am super excited about. I am excited about the Good Place, This is Us and Superstore returning, but nothing new really.
The Good Doctor looks too much like House to me, which isn't surprising since it is the same producer, but I hated House and don't think this would be any different.

So far I've watched Star Trek: Discovery and Young Sheldon. I'm going to wait for Stark Trek to finish the season and then do a binge watch on a free trial of CBS Access. I'll give Young Sheldon another watch.
Not sure what else I'm hoping to catch. Maybe SWAT. I like David Boreanz but the show doesn't interest me.

I watched Young Sheldon and liked it because it was not like Big Bang Theory. I will look for it when it returns but I will also say that it is not a must see tv show, just enjoyable.
I also watched Me, Myself and I and I will give it one more shot but that's it. It didn't grab me. I have no interest in The Young Doctor and the young star just creeps me out. I have watched Superstore in the past but was getting bored with it last season and may check it out, just not sure. As for This is Us - hopeful for the season, bored a bit last night. Apartment JKL or something like that might get a peek if nothing else is on. I am excited to check out Will and Grace even though I seldom watched it when it was first on the air - I was up to my eyeballs in young children and tv was far from fitting in my schedule.

So far ........
The Good Doctor - Loved it ! His conversation with the doctor (who's against him being part of the hospital) towards the end was priceless. Can't wait for next week. The Brave - Good; will definitely watch next week.

I watched the Orville. Loved how serious and goofy it was. Reminded me of the early days of Star Trek (like the 70's).

We liked Young Sheldon and I completely agree with your comments on it. When they said to watch the next episode in November, DH and I both couldn't believe it.
I have lots of things set to record. We'll see how long they stay on my list. I have most of, I think, CBS's new shows recording. I like David Boreanaz so his show is a must try. The crowd sourcing crime show is one I want to try. Good Place we loved, so it is back on our list. Orville was entertaining and we'll stay with it a bit. I know there are a bunch of others I have recording.
Ask again in a month to see what all everyone is still watching!

The good doctor. It was good, BUT oh so unrealistic. The emts would have been there in less than five minutes in a huge airport. The first thought of any doctor... Did glass shards travel? They would have been looking for that. I was hoping that richard schiff's character would have found the boys ( maybe at the time if the accident) and raised both of them. The young woman doctor was right about operating on a scared patient. Attitudedetermines how well an operation goes.
And wouldn't that type of medical genius be set up at one of the huge well known programs ?

The emts would have been there in less than five minutes in a huge airport. Yes, I thought about that at the time. It must have taken him several minutes to gather the supplies and by then emergency personnel or another doctor would have been on the scene.

Yes, the Good Place actually started back last week on Wednesday I think but its regular night is Thursday all of which is another scratching-my-head moment. Why start a week earlier than every other show and on a different night? Why put yet another show on Thursday night which is already so popular? I don't remember when The Good place was on last season. We watched it online.

As for wisdom of the crowd? Hell no. We just had a friend accused and found guilty by social media. He is still waiting for the local new station to issue an apology. A woman posted his photo and accused him of a heinous crime without going to the police first. People were threatening to kill him and so much worse about a half hour later. He was completely innocent.

Pleasantly surprised with Young Sheldon. They did do a good job with the casting and the start of young Sheldon. I love the story of his dad but it made me really sad for both of them. The family has a good mix and good chemistry so I think it will be ok. I hope they tell some of the stories especially how Sheldons mother had him tested for being crazy but in the BigBang she says she never followed up with the specialist in Houston!! And ya November that was a bit of a surprise! Dh likes Discovery and Orville. I like Orville too but it was a little more serious than expected but he doesn't think so! I can't remember Good Doctor & Brave so I'll have to look at those.

It is season two, they had two episodes this week. It was great, I really enjoy this show. There doesn't seem to be any quirky shows this year. No new iZombie, Good Place, Grimm, etc. I dont think we need another Greys Anatomy, Chicago Fire, whatever snow Rob Lowe is on. We need something new. I am all for a good sitcom, but would love a new series like X Files, Harpers Island, or Buffy. i am excited about Riverdale though, I hope the second season is as good as the first.

I’m trying to stay away from all of them. I watch so many shows the way it is, I don’t need anymore.

Haven’t watched any new shows from the beginning in over 10 years. I was excited about Young Sheldon and The Good Doctor.
Will be tuning in to Young Sheldon. They are crazy for not having the show begin in November. Why not just wait for the premiere like normal. No expectations of it being anything like BBT. Despite seeing most of the episode through previews, I still liked how much Mary loved and worried over Sheldon. It’s certainly a different picture of the dad, though.
I was bored with The Good Doctor. I like Freddie Highmore. (Didn’t watch him as Bates though.) I loved those anatomy illustrations. Though, it Started getting on my nerves. It moved too slow. Best part was the ending when FH’s character called out the arrogant Doctor.
I was pleasantly surprised that both of those shows were on the same night and I didn’t have any pressing homework.

I liked the Good Doctor. It's actually a remake of a popular South Korean drama. The kdrama was only one season. I've watched quite a few kdramas and have enjoyed them. It will be interesting to see how this one varies.
I also watched the Brave. Seems interesting.
Star Trek 1st episode was just ok. I won't subscribe to CBS All Access.

I forgot to mention The Orville. I really enjoy that new show. I'm going to DVR it tonight so I can watch Will & Grace. I'm planning on watching The Gifted and Ghosted to see how they are.

I loved ST:TNG and was excited about ST:D until I found out you had to pay a subscription to CBS to watch it. That turned me off, and I immediately stopped watching when I heard from DH the plan. I think in the age of TV where so many people are trying to reduce or drop cable, CBS is making a huge mistake. I said on FB that CBS can go f*ck themselves.
