Wow, just wow! Using double crutches to walk into the House of Congress Steve Scalise spoke of his journey.
DH had the TV on and we watched Steve address the "People's House". A very moving speech that makes me proud to be an American.
He addressed the many miracles that contributed to his survival and focused on the support, love, and prayers that supported him through his ongoing ordeal. The Capitol Police, a fellow congressman who was also a Dr. and former Army Ranger, to the doctors that performed his treatment.
He also talked about the bi-partisan support from his colleagues. From other districts besides just his own. AND from world leaders! He said that when America is strong the world benefits and that is a lesson we need to remember.
Whether we like it or not, The USA is the leader of the free world, and with that great privilege we are also responsible to continue the path our fore fathers set in motion.

I am glad he survived and is recovering well.
Now I hope he uses his position and personal experience to try to ensure that all Americans facing a life-threatening injury, accident or illness are able to receive the same kind of care. ETA: ...without having to worry about being bankrupted.

It brought tears to my eyes. So happy to see him speak and will continue praying for him. It was nice to hear him talk about Brad Wenstrup who is the Dr/Politician who helped him, he is from Ohio.

It was wonderful to hear his testimony, and hear how the prayers he said while still on the ground gave him strength and peace.

With respect, one is either arrogant or very naive in thinking the US still are or have been for a number of years "the leader of the free world". There was nowhere more obvious that they were not than at the G20 summit this year in Hamburg.
