We hit a deer the night before last and it jacked my car UP. So, we're picking up a rental tomorrow. I'm not sure how long we'll have to have it, it'll depend on how quickly the body shop can get parts in and whatnot.
I drive a Kia Sorento with a 3rd row. I never have enough passengers that I need the 3rd row but I do use the cargo space pretty often for work. I generally have 5-6 31 organizing totes and a couple of bags.
They're saying a full sized sedan is a Nissan Altima or Chrysler 500. If you drive a similar sized car can you tell me about the trunk space? We are going to be on a road trip in 2 weeks and will have 4 adults and our bags for about a week through the mountains of TN so I'm concerned with space.
If I need a rental for the full 30 days (Lord I hope not) to move to a compact SUV (jeep renegade size) is an additional $500 and a full sized SUV would be another $1000 I don't really want to spend any more money on this stupid deer but I also don't want to be ticked off for however long this is going to take because I'm driving a car that doesn't fit any of our needs and I certainly don't want to be uncomfortable on this trip. We've got a lot of hours to ride.
I don't know if getting something larger for that week is an option or if it will make the entire thing more complicated.
WWYD? how hard is the transition from SUV to car really going to be?

What a huge pain.
I have a 2014 Altima that I absolutely love. JMO, but it has a boatload of trunk space.
I suggest that you rent the Altima. If needed, upgrade to the SUV for your trip *only. They should let you do that, right?
Hope it all works out.

Thank you.
I think I'm just going to load up all my crap tomorrow and make them find something that works.
He kind of made it sound like it woukd be pricey to swap it out but he was kind of snippy in the phone so it may have been a case of him not wanting to do the paperwork.
I'm going to work on fixing my attitude about it and hoping to jeebus it's fixed quickly.

Is it a 2017 Altima?? It makes a difference..... We just got one and it's SO much more roomy than our 2016 Sentra. That being said, we just up and left during Hurricane Irma, to out-drive the bad weather. We are 4 adults, and we had 5 cats in cages, and we all fit just fine. We each had 1 piece of (large) luggage that fit in the trunk (we did have to empty it before the trip).
It's certainly not as roomy as an SUV, but it's a nice size sedan, and they ride very well! They get great mileage and have a lot of features even in the basic models. Good luck!

I personally think you are going to have a difficult time going from an SUV to a sedan. 4 people and luggage for a week in a sedan? I think you are going to find it cramped. But then, I think 4 people in a sedan for a week sounds cramped!

I have a compact SUV and my husband has a Nissan Altima- he has way more cargo space than I do and is much roomier for passengers too. It's kind of ridiculous how much more space his car has, I would imagine you could easily fit four suitcases plus other stuff too.

The body shop can't look at it until Monday so I put the dangling light fixture in the back seat and wire tied the bumper up for the weekend.
I'll deal with this on Monday when I have more time and hopefully that have more inventory.
Even more frustrating the rental place next door has a Nissan rogue for the price my insurance allows but that's not who I get to use so I'm stuck with higher rates and smaller cars.
