I've read a few books about North Korea but photos from inside the regime are rare so when I spotted this BBC article I had to have a look. Thought the apartment block with mini solar panels on most of the balconies was telling. www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-41438084

Fascinating, tfs.
As an aside - did you see the first (I think) in the series about Russia last night? Simon Reeve is traveling extensively throughout the country and apart from the oppressive police interest in what they were doing some of the stats about the country were mind boggling. Siberia alone is 12th of the entire planet's land mass. I think it was 20% (poss 25%) of the world's trees are in a forest there which is bigger than the Amazon. Absolutely fascinating to learn something about the scale of the country apart from anything else.
Sorry for the hi-jack 🙂

Even more interesting is to google "photos smuggled out of North Korea". Those tell a different story from the ones that are approved by the "minders" who are always with any outsider. Although I do find these minder-approved ones fascinating also because it's interesting to see what they *do* approve. But the extreme poverty that exists outside of large cities is something that the country doesn't want anyone to see.

Have been following Educating Greater Manchester and it was on at the same time so I decided to watch that instead.
