Ok, if you haven't watched the season premiere, leave this thread right now and go watch it on CBS.com.
If you have, what did you think?
From what I have read, no one saw this coming. No one saw...
SPOILER... Linda being killed off. Actually we never 'saw' it literally because they chose to just talk about it. So this leaves me with the question of Why? Why did the actress not return? Why not do an episode where she dies or show some flashbacks to Danny and the boys getting the news?
I think this was very poorly handled. Plus we have yet another single person now in the family who will likely work all the time and never have a social life. It's bad enough that Erin never gets a man except her exhusband and young, attractive, smart, sweet Jaime is progressing with Eddie at a snails's pace. This is one thing I hate about CBS procedurals is that it is all about the weekly story and not enough advancement of the characters.

DH and I watched too. We missed the beginning with whatever happened to Jack, and spent way to much time trying to figure out if Linda was involved and we missed it too. Blue Bloods isn't usually that complicated or maybe we shouldn't have been talking and drinking at the same time We liked the family dinner was around deli cartons instead of a home cooked meal- a nice does of reality!

I love these kinds of dramas and what has frustrates me so much is when they move too much into their personal lives. I love that Blue Bloods gives us enough of their personal drama/life to understand why they act the way they do on the job but the main focus of the show is still on their job.

Danny tells her he can't take this case because he is putting in his papers and was assume it is because he blames himself for the fire and wants to protect his family. It isn't until later when Danny is talking to the therapist that he first mentions Linda not being in his life and then it was probably half way through or more before the therapist actually tells us what happens. I'm unclear on how much time has passed, I'm assuming a few months at most.

Remember the scene where Danny and his partner go talk to the therapist (I think that is what he is) and he mentions May and Danny nearly took his head off? I'm just guessing that is when Linda's death happened so it's probably been several months.

My son LOVES this show.
My ramblings:
They get rid of a actor when the costs are getting to high. If this is true then this show isn't doing well and has maybe another season?
They won't bring in new people because that would cost too much, so I don't think there is going to be any romance going in for anybody.
And are there no decent lights in the Reagan house? Those poor boys hunched over their books.

I really, really hate how they handled this. Someone in that family needs to have a normal, stable relationship!

I hated that Linda was killed off. I have loved this show from the beginning but they ruined it for me. The actress didn't indicate she wanted off the series. I will not watch this series any longer.

I caught this little blurb that explains the departure of the actress who played Linda little bit... Blue Bloods

Not a fan of them killing off Linda or how it was handled with her just disappearing off the show. As someone mentioned, it was nice to see that Danny had a family/stable relationship.

I thought I missed something at the end of last season. I guess I didn't. I liked Danny and Linda as a couple. I still love this show, but I'm disappointed in how this was handled. Or not handled, as the case may be. Lisa

According to the article that someone linked a few posts above this her contract was up and the actress herself decided to move on. If they couldn't renew her perhaps it was simply a matter of a "what can we do to make this fit" type of story line.

I've just watched this episode, and my DD actually giggled at the way my mouth dropped open when I realised Linda was dead. That girl has no respect!
