I learned about mums here as mums are not a thing in Seattle. Love the annual mum thread and those ring mums are super adorable!
One question, who makes the mum for the girl? Her homecoming date, her mom, dates mom?

One question, who makes the mum for the girl? Her homecoming date, her mom, dates mom? I think that depends on local custom. At DD's school, if you had a date to Homecoming then the date provided the mum. If just going with a group of friends, then the parents bought the mum. The ones at DD's school were always artificial mums, not real ones. I should go dig in DD's tack trunk. That's where I stored all of her old mums. Wonder what they look like after all these years?

That’s interesting. Back in my mum-wearing years, only people who had dates wore mums. Mine were real flowers and came from the florist. If I recall, no one made them themselves. I do remember the teachers complaining about the cowbells tied to the ends of the ribbons. DS is 16 but hasn’t asked anyone to homecoming, so I won’t have to make one, thank goodness!
