@elaynef , those crochet turtles and flowers are adorable. The pages looks so fantastic put together too. I think you are awesome with your seasonal vignettes and the framed art prints that you change out. I have grand plans, but never seem to get there. I do have 3 areas to display recently completed traditional pages. 2 are just easels. After finishing my latest page on Tuesday evening, I realized that both easels are full. I can't even fit the next one in front of the other pages. There is no changing things out for me. Just piling it higher and deeper. I need a page out of your book. How long will you be traveling through Arkansas? Are you visiting more than one park? grammadee , glad your conference went well and that you have new goodies to play with. nylene , your day out sounds like so much fun. The drive through the small part of MN, and all through WI and MI was full of fall colors. Although it does seem to be slower changing this year. I'm glad Steve is feeling better. I hope the rest of the stones pass with ease. I take it you accepted the new school's offer.? I'm glad you were able to find a position that was exactly what you wanted. The chickens are doing well and we are loving our fresh eggs. scrapincin , I think autumn is definitely going to stick with us. Although today and tomorrow we will be in the 70s here. msliz , you are so good to put your chores first. Have fun at your crop~! justjac , I'm enjoying seeing your pages in the gallery. Knowing that you'll be posting so often due to LOAD has been keeping me checking the gallery more frequently, which I need to do to stay on top of commenting. justjac and grammadee , have fun at your crop too. Thanks for all of your concerns and prayers for dd. The test was super easy. The dr. will call with results when he reviews. We had to be there at 7:45am on Monday and we were out before 9:30am. We enjoyed the day out and about and drove home on Tuesday. DS ended up breaking the wire in his braces on the ride home. We decided that we'd leave the patch on dd and we'd all take him the next morning to have it fixed and then go to the corn maze. There is a farm that does a gigantic corn maze with intricate patterns each year. We didn't think we were going to make it with all of our other travels. DD and dh both finally didn't have to fight the motion sickness yesterday and both had fairly lazy days. I did finish a layout after arriving home on Tuesday night, while I awaited my turn in the shower. I even started another one yesterday. The Good Life by Lisa Davolt, on Flickr and another digitally yesterday afternoon. d2009C5a_PoorFrosty by Lisa Davolt, on Flickr and 1 that I did last week digitally. d2009C18_YrlyOrnament by Lisa Davolt, on Flickr

How long will you be traveling through Arkansas? Are you visiting more than one park? Thank you! and thanks for sharing your layouts! We have cabins in 3 state parks in Arkansas, 2 nights each. We've been to all of them before, but its been a while and we've never been able to get cabins before....It's probably going to be cold, but they have fireplaces and we'll take books so we can relax in front of a fire if it's too cold for hiking!

@elaynef, that sounds fantastic. Personally I'd want to divide my time equally with the hiking and relaxing with a book in front of the fire. Also, what temperature do Texans think is cold?

It was below 0 for several days. She normally walked a few blocks to her house, but these Texans thought it was cold. We're talking the mountains of Northern Arkansas here though, so that could be a little cooler than texas. And I'm with you on the division of time! a few leaves changing at the river this morning.

Good Sunday evening Pokeys! Sounds like a good trip to the Mayo, LisaDV . I hope they have some results, soon. Last week dh scraped his shin doing something outside, and by the end of the week I made him see the doctor. With his diabetes, he has to be really careful of infection. The dr. debrided the scrape and bandaged it, and put him on a heavy dose of oral anti biotics. When the bandage came off this evening, it looked pretty good--much better than last time I saw it. He has ordered some soccer shin pads to wear when he is working outside. I hope your crop goes really well, msliz. I find I am always a slow starter, but once I am on a roll and all the focus is on creating pages, it is fun AND productive. And your fall vacation sounds wonderful, @elaynef. Getting some fresh air and relaxing by the fireside both sound like a wonderful break for you. I am home safe after a busy crop weekend. There were 5 people in our group and we each had a l-o-n-g table to spread out on. justjac was a wonderful host and her dh & friend loaded my stuff at the venue today. Am more than ready for a quiet relaxing evening, though. Have left my supplies in the vehicle until tomorrow. Finished 30 pages. Started with the fall photos and had alot of fun playing with oranges and golds and glitter, finding different ways to do leaves and other fall embellies. I had hoped to finish my reunion album, but by suppertime yesterday I had a throbbing headache, so I skipped out of the evening, and there wasn't enough time today to switch gears and complete all the pages I had wanted to do. But the good news is I am up to date on my fall photos, and I am pretty organized to do the other book. It will actually be easier to do at home because I have all my stash here, not just a selection of it. I will photograph and post a few of the pages tomorrow. Off to bed now.

@elaynef , thanks for sharing that article. I think -4 is cold too, it's actually common for the winters here. I have a niece that lives outside of Austin. Her little one goes up to my sisters in Illinois in the winter which usually averages between 20-45 during Dec-Feb. She thinks that's cold. grammadee , ouch for you dh. I'm glad it's healing. 30 pages - Wow! You are so quick. It's impressive. Definitely makes the crop worth it. Yesterday morning I had 3 hours at the laundromat before church and then did grocery errands. I did, however, reward myself for that laundry fiasco with a trip to Joanns. I needed a certain color cardstock bases for my calendar swap, but found a natural cotton batting on clearance for $3.97 as well as some candy molds. Right before my last store stop, ds15 called and asked what's for dinner? It seems this week is hollow leg week. I came home to find Don had cleaned up the dining room, removed my old kitchen table. The rain had prevented him from finishing the job, but as soon as it broke, he put in the dining table & bench his Uncle and Aunt made (& the custom made chairs for it). He gave it to us when he moved in with his son last year. I have 2 more layouts to share. This digital one, I forgot I did as it was late and I was already tired. d2009c20_Playing by Lisa Davolt, on Flickr This is a very quick traditional one for the sketch challenge here. Here are some of the pages I did at the crop. I had a LOT of fun playing with fall colours and textures. I won a prize for the first page I did, playing with paints and mists and glittery media: Fall Guy by Gramma Dee, on Flickr Here is a double pager using burlap with gems and glitter paper (and more leaf diecuts): Have a great day by Gramma Dee, on Flickr And I was happy to use a die/embossing folder set I had lost for a couple of years, but that just "turned up" this summer to do the pumpkins on this one. Also got to use some orange raffy that came in a Halloween kit: scarecrow festival by Gramma Dee, on Flickr Okay, off to unload my car, now...

I'm blown away by all your beautiful pages! I had a great time at the crop and I ended up working on my 2017 album. It's very easy to start projects away from home with so much uninterrupted time, but I feel like I have so many loose ends when I get home. I don't bring everything I own with me, so I still have to finish every page I started there. And the same for the album I started at last month's crop. So, even though I got a lot done, I feel very disorganized now.
I think I'm just going to have to get used to the idea of working that way, starting there and finishing at home, because I want to keep going there every month. Really nice ladies!
Glad to read about everyone's weekend! How's your Monday going?

grammadee, justjac and msliz,it sounds like you all had a great time at your crops. I would love to go to crops, but I know I accomplish a lot more at home where everything is within arms reach. Love the pages you posted, grammadee. Glad your DH is doing ok and healing. LisaDV, I hope things have settled down now that the laundry is done (it's never totally done) and you are settled back at home. I hope your DD continues to feel well. Cute pages that you posted of her. I have a few more of yours to visit and leave love. scrapincin and kellyr21, I am thinking you are both busy. I hope you are getting some "me" time. @elaynef, your trip sounds fun and relaxing...at least the part next to the fire with a good book. I hope you have a safe trip. Not much going on here. My DGD had surgery this AM to replace the ligaments in her knee. They use cadaver ligaments. She will need the other knee done later and her sister needs the same surgery. It's a congenital problem of knee ligaments that are too long causing constant dislocation. Our DD had it too but the repair wasn't as successful as it is today. I have designed a double pager on the Silhouette. It's all done but the journaling. Hope to finish it tomorrow. Tomorrow I start volunteering at school again. This school is very close, within walking distance in good weather, and they just need me Mon and Wed for 1 to 1-1/2 hour. It's the same program I did at the last school, so I know I will enjoy it. Have a great week, everyone!

Good Tuesday evening, Pokeys! Hope you are all doing well. Did you get your fall work done, LisaDV? Our renters finished harvesting the grain on our fields Monday, and today dh helped his dn sort and load calves for shipping to market, so farm work is slowing down here. Hope your volunteering goes well, nylene. And I hope you have time to post your two pager. When do you leave on your trip, @elaynef? On Thursday, I am flying to BC to spend the weekend with ds and his family there. Then Sunday evening, I will fly to Ontario from there to visit with dd and her family there. So I have been busy getting stuff ready to leave at this end and stuff ready to be packed to take with me. Today I had a "ketchup" day. One of those days when I did a lot of little things, ran some errands, finishing some projects and starting others. Got my hair cut, & my flu shot. Had a routine doctor appointment to renew my med's. Filled the car up with gas. I put most of my scrappy stuff away, and sorted family reunion photos, then put them into labelled page protectors. As I was unpacking, I selected some papers and other supplies that would go with the photos, so I now have a much more focused kit. Tucked all of this into a small shoulder bag I hope to put into my suitcase to take with me on Thursday. Wednesday, I need to deal with tomatoes that have been secretly ripening, so a big pan of lasagna is on the agenda. And we are having people over to help us eat it. Wish you could all come. I could cook every. last. tomato. And while the lasagna was in the oven, we could scrap away to our hearts' content. It would be a potlatch crop: you take home whatever you can make with my stuff! So now I need to crawl into bed and rest up for the cook a thon.

grammadee and msliz, sounds like both of you were productive at your crops. Dee, I left love on your pages at the gallery earlier. So many are just so gorgeous. I wish I had a copy for my own photos. We are in better shape for fall. I still have cabbage and kale in the garden that needs to be dealt with. We still need to do a few things for the bee hive that we need to wait for just a bit longer. AND, the BIG one, is we have 2 turkeys to off, hopefully this weekend. It's our first time so I'm a bit nervous. Safe travels on your trips. How long will you be gone? I know you will have lots of fun and take lots of great pictures. Liz, what do you have left to finish off your pages? nylene, I'll add your dgd to my prayers for an easy recovery. How did the volunteering at the new school go? I'm all for meeting up at grammadee's for lasagna and a scrap-a-thon. It would be so fun to hang out in real life with the pokey's for a few days. I have always said I'm so much more productive at home where I know the general vicinity of my supplies and what I have is close at hand. But that was before when I never knew if I was sewing, using ribbon, or stamping on a page. Now that I've become a lazy scrapper I might not have the same issues. I sent an email to sbartist, but haven't heard anything back. I see she hasn't checked in here in quite some time. I hope everyone is have a great week so far. DD & I had our sewing class today. It was fun. DD did really well. I'm so proud of her. We went to dinner together afterwards and had the secluded room with the view of Lake Michigan all to ourselves for most of the time. However, the restaurant got rid of our favorite dish. They replaced it with a similar dish. Although it was really tasty, it was not nearly as good as the original. We didn't finish our pants in class. So we hope to finish them up tomorrow or Sunday. (I needed Logan to try 'mine' on since they are his Christmas pj bottoms). DD is car sick (the down side to going out) and calling for me, so I gotta run.

Just a quick check in before I head off to the airport. Will be back home Friday November 3rd. I will have my ipad with me, so will keep in touch.
My lasagna supper was a little more attended than I had planned. Dh invited a friend over to join us. And then mid afternoon his nephew called to say his inlaws had arrived from out of province to surprise his dw for her birthday Friday. So they joined us as well. I would have had to make an extra pan if the Pokeys had shown up!
Anyway, off to pack my car...

Good morning Peas! You guys are so busy I can hardly keep up reading about you let alone keep up! I need to post everyday so I don't get so far behind! Note to self! Not much going on here-watching kids, working out 3 mornings a week, trying to do a few things around this house all the same old things. They are having me challenge my self at the rehab so have increased resistance and time. The people in that class change frequently. After tomorrow I will be the only female left in our group. I really need to do better with the diet part of this. I have good intentions but as the day progresses the good intentions fade away. Enough about me. I have been trying to get to my scrap room to work on my cards but have not been there yet. I had to clear the clutter first so I am going to schedule my time to be in there. LisaDV I think we have about the same weather but you are probably colder then we are. I could not believe the major change in our weather! Yesterday it was so cold and damp it made breathing difficult. Sounds like your sewing class was a lot of fun. I am sure you will get them finished. Sorry about your DD's car sickness. My oldest got that when she was a kid. I have some friends who still get car sick unless they sit in the front seat. grammadee You are going to be on the run again! But you seem to handle all of it very well I wish I had some of your energy. Glad to hear the DH is getting along better. Probably was a good thing to see the doc with that injury. Your pages are so great! You add so much detail and texture to your pages. nylene I am glad you found your part-time teaching job! I know you get so much joy from helping those children. I hope your DGD is recovering well from her surgery. I am just glad they had a procedure to fix the problem. I hope Steve is doing well also. msliz- sure hope you get more time to scrap. These kids really keep us busy don't they. The only thing I hate about crops is packing everything we own and unpacking when I get back. elayne It sounds to me like you are going to have a great trip. Have you decided which of the two places you are going to? justjac I still have some of your pages to comment on-hope to get to them today. You find such interesting things in everyday life to scrap about. You do a great job with your pages-they all tell me a story! Well I have to get moving and run to the store for a few things I need like Trick or Treat candy. I hope to be back later!

LisaDV , I hope DD felt better soon enough. That's the rough thing about going out with my DD; there's always a price she has to pay with her health, and usually she decides it's not worth it so she stays home. I'm so glad you have activities you can do together! I've been crafting, but I still haven't touched my layouts since my crop. I still need to add titles and all the fun stuff to the pages I started, but I've found a new distraction. I actually started on some card making last night. It felt like it went really slow because of all the multiples of each step (this is all a new experience for me! ) But I had scrapping videos on while I worked, so it was a quiet relaxing couple of hours. I'm going to try to find some more time for cards again tonight. And, thanks grammadee , now I want lasagna (and a trip to Canada!) ETA: but in honor of scrapincin and her healthy diet, I'm going to skip the lasagna and make a big pan of roasted vegetables for dinner tomorrow!

msliz I totally love roasted root veggies. I am going to make some tomorrow or Saturday. Some people put them in their salads! I have never tried that. I also make these green beans that Rachel Ray had on her show. you roast them for few minutes with onion, garlic and parmesean cheese. Then you can eat them like fries!

I used zucchini, yellow squash, orange bell peppers, red onions and grape tomatoes, with garlic, oregano and basil. And after I took it out of the oven I added a couple fistfuls of baby spinach. I also had mushrooms on the side because not everyone likes mushrooms. We had ciabatta rolls so we could make mini pizzas and some pasta too. Root veggies sound good. I think I'll make that later in the week. I have a sugar pumpkin I could throw it there too!

I need to ask her which herbs she uses.

I roast most of our fresh vegetables (radishes, turnips, cauliflower, broccoli, brussel sprouts, asparagus, you name it - we roast it) as that's the preference for the the kids. I tend to boil/steam frozen vegetables & spinach/kale, of course. scrapincin, sorry that you had a rough day. Are you breathing better now that the rain has moved on? msliz, are you enjoying the card making? I started out making cards and I still do, but I don't really enjoy card making. I'd much rather buy a card and do something else crafty. grammadee, hope you are having fun and getting lots of quality time with the grands. Don & I started dating on the 28th of October. So we had a date evening on Friday to celebrate. I forgot to get a selfie of us or take any pictures other than the new Costco, so I pulled a few from online and created a layout to commemorate the event. d18Years by Lisa Davolt, on Flickr Yesterday, I spent hours on trying to connect my computer to the laser printer. It wasn't working. Finally, I just reset the whole thing to get it to work. Today, I made the above layout and a card. Tomorrow the turkey's get it. Keep your fingers crossed for us to not mess it up. OK, I need to go get a few more things accomplished tonight before bed and it's already 9pm.

LisaDV, so how did the "turkey harvest" go? I remember dad cutting off the heads of chickens and I was just 4. I hope your kids will be OK with it. I love your celebration of first date. What a sweet and perfect layout. grammadee, you are always on the go. I don't know how you have the stamina to keep it all going. You are my idol! Hope things are going well and that your DH is much better now. Alyssa's surgery went well and the surgeon was really pleased. scrapincin, it sounds like you are getting stronger with your exercises. How's the healthy diet going? Halloween candy did us in! I have never roasted any vegetables but squash. I will have to learn to do other vegetables. First I have to disguise them as treats so Steve will eat them. LOL! I designed 2 pages on the Sil and then forgot to save them. Luckily I was able to redo them and they came together quickly. I'll post them on the November thread. msliz, I think it's wonderful that you have a crop you can attend each month. I wish I had one locally. My neighbor would like to scrap with me once a week, but between my teaching and the children's art classes she teaches, we can't find a day. We scrap together at Card Club, but that's just a couple of hours a month. I hope you get all the pages you started finished. justjac, I just saw bunches of your layouts in the gallery. I will hop over there today and tomorrow to enjoy they all. You are prolific! @elaynef, have you left yet? I'm not sure I got the dates you were going to go. I hope you have a wonderful time. kellyr21, you must be working away on your cards/albums and art work. I hope the weather has cooled off a bit for you now that Fall is here. Can you believe that tomorrow is our last day of October? I will start a new thread the next morning.School got cancelled last week for an assembly and then the supervisor was home with a sick child so today was my first day. It turns out that my supervisor is my son-in-law's sister. For those who know Angie, it's her husband,Jon's sister. The day went well. I do have one pretty obnoxious boy (that I was warned about) but I spent the time just getting to know him today and I think we will be ok together. He's loud and wants to take charge, but settled down as the time wore on. HAVE A VERY HAPPY HALLOWEEN.

Good Monday evening, Pokeys. Glad your dgd is doing well after surgery, nylene. Love your pages and cards in the Gallery, LisaDV and justjac. And your cute page about the squirrel, msliz. Good luck with your card making, scrapincin. I had a good 4 days on the west coast, then flew the "red eye" last night to Ontario. Drove here direct from the airport, had time for a visit with dd and a nap before walking out to meet the school bus. The expression on dgs's face when he saw me was priceless! What are your Halloween plans? I got to go to Spirit Halloween with two dgd's on the weekend, and they carved their pumpkins. Got here in time to watch the end of the pumpkin carving here. Tomorrow dgs will wear black and orange to school; then the whole family will dress as scarecrows for trick & treating. Should be lots of photo ops there! Ok. Must get some sleep...

Happy Tuesday! And Happy Halloween! The turkeys are safe until this coming Friday!! Don had steeled himself for it for last Friday, but then made our reservations, so we said we'd do it Monday. I get up, all ready to go. Don is all like, I'm not ready. lol. I told him, I'd do the cutting, but we're waiting until this Friday. grammadee, sounds like you're having an amazing time. It brings a smile to my face. nylene, your dragonfly cards are gorgeous! I'm sure that you will have that little boy loving spending every moment he can with you in no time. justjac, I've spied 2 new layouts that look fabulous. I love how your pages really tell wonderful stories and they just pull me into them. So, I will have to inspect more later (and leave love). msliz, Dee spoke of a squirrel page, but I don't see one in the gallery. Did you post it only to another thread? We need it here too. Don was to leave today for working at the clients office. But he started feeling under the weather yesterday. He said he didn't get any sleep last night and so he didn't go in today. He's still working from home with calls and such, but later we may carve pumpkins. I spoke to my sister yesterday and she was asking my Halloween food plans. With dd's food issues I started making those crazy spooky foods. Hot dogs into severed fingers, anyone. Graveyard dip. Since dh was going to be out of town, I didn't even think of it this year. Now he's here and I'm wondering if I should plan something. We'll see what I have time for. Luckily the living room hasn't been cleaned in like 2 weeks, so it's a "horror" in itself. Guess I can't clean it today either. lol. Anything to put off cleaning one more day. Waving hello to everyone! Hope you have a wonderful day where you don't have to clean either!
