I've always driven some type of SUV. I'm currently in a smaller SUV that I love and I'm lucky to have it. I've just always wanted some type of cute, fun convertible or something to drive sometimes. If I could go out and buy something, I'd love a Mini Cooper. I have no idea if they are even remotely reliable or what repair costs are or really anything about them. I really know nothing about them other than I think they are cute.
I used to drive a little Honda CR-X and I just loved how zippy that thing was. I could park that thing anywhere and it got great gas mileage even back in the day.
Anyone else have a second car fantasy? Do you have a second car you love?

At some point in my life I'd like a Mustang convertible.

I drive an Xterra during the winter months. Love that thing! It gets me everywhere when others are stuck in their driveways.
In the summer I drive a Dodge Challenger. So fast and so much fun, love doing summer road trips in it.

We live in the boonies. We have 4 cars between 2 of us. 2 4WD, 1 AWD, and 1 FWD. If we would break down and not have an extra car we would be hard up to get to work without renting something, which would be expensive. So we usually end up taking the work trucks if one of our cars need work, or servicing.

We have 2 cars, his and mine. His is the one we use when we have to carry anything bigger than my purse, like groceries. Mine is the fun car. His is an Audi, mine is a little red 2 seater convertible (Pontiac Solstice). It's an '07 and I love it as much now as the day I bought it in '06. He was of the opinion that a car was 'just transportation' - until I bought this one. One drive out on winding country roads (this was when we lived in TN) with the top down and some jazz on the radio and his blood pressure dropped, LOL! He decided right then and there that a car could be fun.

we have two drivers and three cars.. a new subaru impreza, a year old subaru outback and a 12 yr old mini cooper.. it has 201,000 miles on it and the original clutch. the mechanic says we have been very lucky on repairs.. and it has been pricy.. it really isn't worth too much so we keep it around.. and our son uses it sometimes, since he lives in the same town and doesn't own a car.
I like the new features on our new cars...

I’m a full size suv chick. If I ever had a second car it’d be a vintage convertible Woody.

I don't drive to work anymore. We have a Toyota Landcruiser for camping/big Costco trips and a Subaru Impreza for my husband's daily driver. I'm only a mile away from my office so there's no reason to drive. We may buy a smaller crossover in the future.

We had the same fantasy. I wanted a sassy convertible that the kids wouldn't fit in, would be too embarrassed to want to drive, and was a manual transmission because it looked like fun to use the shifty thing. I love him SO much, best idea ever! My mini has been super reliable and parts are available more readily now. The plates are a gratitude reminder. If I'm getting in a car I love to go do whatever it is you may as well pinch me, it's a really great day! The puppy loves it too.

My summer car is a Camaro; I love that thing! The rest of the year I drive a beast of a truck. I live in the mountains with a lot of snow (we got 22’ last winter!) so I need something with 4wd.

DH has a small PU truck and I have a full sized car for winter driving and errands. In the summer it's all about the Corvettes.

I drive a BMW X3 which is a mid sized SUV which I love, so easy to get about in and easy to park.
DH has a 1957 XR Ford which he has been spending a few years restoring and it is his pride and joy.
That comes out of the garage only on nice days with no hint of rain! Not bad to drive but certainly a little longer than my car.

My dream car right now is a Camaro. They are beautiful. Everyday I drive an Altima coupe, which is sporty and fast (V6).

I don't drive but DH has a second car (and a truck)
Our main family vehicle is a Ford Flex; his fun commuter car is a Mini Cooper (love it!). And we have an old 1996 Chevy truck as well.
{and we also have DS's 1978 Ford truck and DD17's Ford Ranger parked in front of the house - looks like a darn used car lot somedays - DS is overseas and DD doesn't yet have her full license so DH is the only driver at home)

LOL. My daily driver is an old ass Accord. My second car is an even older Corolla which I am keeping until my 16yo niece wants to drive it. I drive the corolla to work sometimes to keep it running. I have an assigned spot, once I parked it in my spot and my secretary was like, who parked the hooptee in your space?
We both ride motorcycles so those are our summer vehicles.

Datsun 280ZX2+2 for me. I've had 2 and planned to get a third one this year. Then with our move to Florida happening bit by bit I decided an open van would be more useful and bought the first thing we looked at - one equipped to transport wheelchair passengers. Big lift gate across the back, high top, even cup holders along the carpeted side panels. It's ok, I've grown to love it. And who knows, maybe I'll meet someone who could benefit the the accomodations it has.

I have a 14yr old Toyota with only 140k miles on it that I use as a "grocery-getter", hauling plants, dogs and other crap. Otherwise I have a pretty little cream colored VW bug with a sunroof that I keep immaculate and love zipping around in it in town or taking to the beach. I've never had a fun car before, and I love it.

DH has an older Mazda Miata convertible as his fun 2nd car. He drives it a lot, as long as the weather is nice. His "main" car is automatic so I can also drive it if needed and is more practical for running errands or longer drives on the highway. The Miata has almost no trunk space and is loud on the highway.
For me, I am a one-car-only person, because I really don't find driving fun and would much prefer to drive the same car forever - nothing new to adjust to. I like routine and boring when it comes to my car.
It's not a permanent decision. As long as the extra car/insurance/tags are affordable for you, cars can be sold quite easily if you change your mind. Not sure what you were thinking of spending, but let's say 10k. It's really probably more like a 2k or 3k decision, not the full 10k. If you buy it, and hate having multiple cars, you're out your taxes, insurance for the time you had it, plates, and depreciation, but you can recoup a decent amount of what you spent in most situations.
If it's something that seems fun to you and is in your budget, do it! You only live once, and when the decision can be reversed without too much hardship -- I say it's better to go for it sooner than later!

We have 3 cars and I drive two of them. I am not a big driver and I live on an island and never really leave the city. I go up island once a year maybe but the highway is treacherous and there is always a major accident on it so I don’t drive it. If I go to Vancouver I take a highway bus because I don’t like driving there. I am also afraid to drive there. If I were to go to the interior of the province I could and have driven but I again I don’t need another vehicle for that. If I were to go to Alberta I would fly and rent a car there. I am just not a big driver.

We have 2 we love...a Miata, and a Jeep Wrangler. The only thing DH might want would be another Mustang, but he loves both of ours, and would be happy just upgrading our Miata.

I drive an SUV through our Minnesota winters.
DH is a Ford Mustang guy, so he wanted all three body styles from 1968. He had the first two for himself, so in July we bought the convertible for me. He's happy to have his collection complete and I'm happy to have a pretty little car to drive!

When I was in the market for a new car I really wanted a mini but it wasn’t in my budget. I bought a Kia Soul that was some kind of special edition (it’s white with red accents and fancy inside lights). I do love my car but I’d love a fun car.

We have three. A Toyota Tundra for hubby. A Prius for the teenage girl. A Highlander for me/family. The Prius will be paid off in another year and we will sign the title over to the young adult - she will be 18 then. We take the longer road trips in the Highlander. We have the truck for hauling big stuff. For a fun car - that's a hard choice. A Jeep would be fun for the back roads and the beach. A convertible would be fun, too. I've had my fun with fast sports cars in my younger years. But if I could only pick one it would be a 1969 Olds 442 Candy Apple Red convertible.

Right now I just love not having a car payment.. that's good enough for me. LOL.. now if money isn't an option, and not get crazy.. a convertible Mustang. I had one when I was 18 and LOVED it.. every spring I miss it... but again at this point in my life I just don't want any bills.. so my old Honda Accord is still ticking... I have had so many new cars while married to DH.. he always thought we should have a new vehicle.. that was up until we both had career changes and money's been tighter.. now he sees the light.. lol...Can still dream though...

I'm on my second Honda Pilot. I gave the 2005 to my daughter to take to college and I bought an almost identical 2008 for myself. I don't like gray cars but they both happen to be gray so we are twinsies 😜 My fun vehicle is my Honda Metropolitan Scooter. Her name is Bubbles. I think I'm going to trade her in for a scooter with more horsepower soon, though.
