The march for Racial Justice and Black Women happened this weekend and coincided with the anniversary of the September 1919 Elaine, Ark massacre where 100 black activists were killed. Did anyone happen to attend? “This isn’t new — it’s always been relevant,” said Sade Moonsammy, a marcher and friend of Ms. Jacob’s. “We aren’t asking for anything that our parents haven’t already asked for. We’re still in the fight.”

Did you go?
In our city, there was a small (very small) event to coincide and support. I went with several friends. The crowd was small but mighty. We have a huge multi-week event going on right now, so this issue was roundly eclipsed.

I read on Facebook that Linda Sarsour had a very disturbing encounter with a racist when she was returning home. It makes me angry and sad that she spent her day fighting for justice only to face hate.
Thank you Olan for hosting.

Linda Sarsour was fighting for justice? You might want to do a little reading up on her.

I think if we asked Sarsour what bothered her the most about being attacked, she would say the fact that no one come to her aid.

I"m sorry and embarrassed to say, I didn't even know about it. I can tell you the score of the football game yesterday, though. Even though I don't care about it. That's because the local tv media decides what to cover and what to ignore. Talk about power.

I'm unsure of the planning process of either march but I was made aware of the March for Racial Justice by the woman who they quoted in the Washington Post article. After that I saw it on social media (Facebook invite, Instagram) a time or two which is how I connected with the people I hosted.

I would have totally attended if this event had been on my radar and if there had been one in my small Cali. town... I'm surprised we didn't have one. I would have heard about it, as I am a member of a few justice groups in town.

I read about it a few weeks ago. I would have loved to gone.
It coincided with our Pride festival so they did not have a concurrent march here.
I would have gone to ti.

Yeah, not a fan of Linda Sarsour and IMO, she's a rabble rouser, not a social justice warrior.

I knew about it because the people I usually go with couldn’t go because it was on yom kippor. Some were really disappointed by it. I unfortunately couldn’t go due to my injury and a dr appt.
I understand why it was scheduled on that date but it was a shame that it conflicted with yom kippor.

Each sister march/rally happened on either a Saturday or Sunday and it seems all that was required would have been registering the justice group/rally in your area on the March for Racial Justice website.
