Sarah Sanders... “The average American family would get a $4,000 raise under the President’s tax cut plan. So how could any member of Congress be against it?” Let’s be clear that only applies to wages. I’m retired so while I pay taxes I won’t see any reduction. Low income workers will see little if any of this $4,000 on average raise. If David Koch gets a $10,000,000 tax cut and I get $10,000 tax cut, we each get an average tax cut of $5,005,000. SWEET!!!! (Averages SUCK at telling us anything in this instance unless they throw out the top 20% and bottom 20% and tell us what the average is for the MIDDLE 60%!!!!)

Is this the miraculous "trickle down"? Because I can say without a doubt that my large company saving money on taxes would in no way mean they would give everyone a raise.
What am I missing here?

YES!! This isn't any kind of a $4000 tax cut for workers. It's the projected trickle-down pay raise, and everyone who isn't a Republican lawmaker knows that trickle-down is the ultimate unicorn. Three years and HOW many more months, again?

CEA StudyPaul Ryan started this whole $4,000 average annual wage increase with this tweet a couple days ago... “New Study finds that corporate tax reform will, on average, increase wages for American families by at least $4,000 annually.” And he attached the study. So of course I read it. It’s by the Counsil of Economic Advisers a group that advises the president on economic matters. The Study “Corporate Tax Reform on Wages - Theory and Evidence.” And in the study it does say in theory corporations who pay less in taxes may increase the wages of employees that could provide an average increase of between $4,000 - $9,000 to employee’s annual salary. But you have to read the fine print in the introduction. As they say the devil is in the details. This is what the GOP is selling not actual tax cuts to the middle class, the poor, or to folks like me that are retired.

Poll: Trump job approval dips to new low thehill.com/homenews/administration/356743-poll-trump-job-approval-dips-to-new-low"Forty-two percent approve of the job President Trump is doing, while 58 percent say they disapprove, according to the latest Harvard-Harris survey. That’s down 3 points from September, when the president’s job approval briefly spiked to 45 percent amid widespread praise for the federal government’s response to the hurricanes that battered the Gulf states. Since then, Trump has stirred controversy with remarks about Gold Star families and his ongoing criticism of football players who kneel during the national anthem. As Republicans find themselves wracked by intraparty feuds pitting former White House chief strategist Stephen Bannon against Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), Trump has also faced criticism for his response to a hurricane that devastated Puerto Rico. " IMO, it's only going down from here.

In the age of $50 million a year CEO wages and 20 million a year stock options, I'm just sure the tax cuts will result in wage increases for the little guy. Greed at that level will somehow just disappear. Yeah, right.

John Kraushaar....
“From GOP, estab-friendly insider: "Many GOP senators friendly to Corker are furious at his latest comments, making tax reform harder"
This morning’s tweet rant by trump shows, yet again, something is not quite right with him. And yet once again the GOP is ignoring this behavior because their end game is tax cuts. Which shows just how low the Republicans have sunk.

Ezra Klein...
“Imagine that the top Democrat on the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee had said President Hillary Clinton was unfit to be president and was debasing the nation. Does anyone believe Speaker Paul Ryan's response would be: let's focus on tax reform?”
Ryan would be leading the charge.

Elza Klein...
"We’ve just witnessed a speech from a very fine man," says McConnell. "A man who clearly brings high principles to the office every day."
The speech was about how McConnell and his co-partisans have abandoned their principles and disgraced their offices.“
On Senator Flake’s I’m getting the hell out of this sewer pit speech.
