I can't say that I was torn between a couple and not knowing which to pick. Wasn't all that excited from the choice descriptions this month. I did however pick The Honest Spy.

I remembered last night that these would be up. I picked Mark of Fire because I usually like high fantasy. Guys, do not make the same mistake I did. This book is awful. Awful. I read it out loud to my husband laughing the whole time because it was that bad. Three chapters in the main character had her reverie interrupted by a knock on the door. If that's the only way the author knows to get out of a lengthy exposition section, you are reading a bad book. If an urchin shows up inside 5 chapters, you're reading a bad book. If the scenery descriptions are so tortured a romanticist would smack his head, you're in a bad book. seriously, SO Bad. So bad.
Get something good.
I should have known better when the editor's summary (signed by the editor) was badly written.

I picked Tangled Mercy too, in spite of the fact that there are too many stellar reviews already and the last reviewer even calls them out on it!
We'll see I guess

I got A Tangled Mercy. I had read her first book Blue Hole Back Home and really enjoyed it. I hope this one is as good as the first.

I would love to hear the opinions of those who read A Tangled Mercy. I chose it because I went to college in Charleston, SC, and fell in love with the city. I found this author to be very thorough in her research and storytelling abilities. Could not put it down.

So how are your choices, for future reference? Gotta tell you, I am really enjoying All the Little Children. Jo Furness writes really well, very well actually, and the story itself is quite good too.. although I'm having a little difficulty with some of the British phrases Can usually figger it out by the context, though. It's a dystopian-type tale of a killer virus that hits all of Great Britain, ultimately with the entire island being cut off from the rest of the world. Apparently it is thought that if you're not dead, you're a carrier. That's all I'll spoil. Anyway it's great. I will read more Jo Furness. Did I mention she writes really well? Layce
