It is called "Dirty John" on the Wondery network. You can listen to it wherever you find podcasts. Here is an article by the narrator about the story including the first chapter, careful to do any more research unless you want the story spoiled for you. www.latimes.com/projects/la-me-dirty-john/

I binged this yesterday while cleaning out my closet. It was fantastic and I love that it was only 6 episodes. Great storytelling and great pacing to the end.
I knew nothing about the story - I was just told to listen and so every twist and turn was a surprise. Loved it!

Listening to it now and pretty good! I do have to say I don't really like the guys voice but besides that interested to see how it ends. On episode 4. Real Crime Profile has 2 episodes about this case if anyone wants to listen.

It was great!
Unrelated, except that it's also true crime, I just started listening to Sword and Scale with episodes 100 and 101 and OMG what an awful case. Well done podcast, though. (Well, it's also a Wondery podcast, so slightly related.)
True Crime Garage is currently doing a four part series on the Kyron Horman case (which is local to me), if anyone is interested. The first two have aired so far.

I used to be a fan but I had to stop listening after I saw the way he was interacting with fans privately.

I only came across it because of Dirty John. I used to be a member of a Facebook group that had screenshots of him asking fans for naked pictures when they'd simply reach out to him to say they loved his podcast. He also refused to take down footage of a 911 call placed by a minor after the victim asked him to take it down. I would link the group but it has been archived and they aren't accepting any new members.

I didn't see anything like that in the Reddit, but plenty of other shady crap by him, so I already unsubscribed. Plenty of other good true crime podcasts to choose from. By the way, I think Casefile is very good and as far as I know, the host is OK

Ok so I'm reading the LA Times Article and my heart is pounding after like the first three paragraphs. So many red flags but NOTHING has happened yet. I can't wait to listen rather than read (wifi at my job sucks so I have to wait until I get home to download on my phone).

I love true crime, so will someone please hook me up with how to get a podcast? I currently do a lot of audiobooks, but from the sound of this thread, I may also like podcast.
I have an android phone I want to download to, if that makes a difference. So please tell me where to get this podcast.

Thank you for the recommendation! I listened to the first 2 on my run today. He sounds like a prize control freak conman so far. DH interrupted me with a phone call so I can't get back to it until tomorrow's run.

Youll need to download a podcast app, search for Dirty John and download the episodes. It is all free so don't worry about it costing anything.

My daughters love "My favorite murder". I just went to the live show in San Diego and got to meet them this past Friday Totally jealous! Dirty John was well done. I didn’t see the end coming. I listen to a lot of true crime podcasts. I gave up Sword and Scale when he became a bit too big for his britches, as my mom used to say. He brings in over $35,000 a month through his Patreon 😱 I get that people like the show and chose to contribute.

Finished it and it was good! Poor Debbie, she really fell for all his tricks. Not giving away any spoilers but glad her family safe. I’m sure he conned many women, probably too many too count.

Definitely search out his bad behavior. And join the FB group The Problem with Sword and Scale. It can be a bit of a train wreck at times, but it can also be very enlightening where Mike's "issues" are concerned.

I just subscribed to Dirty John, thanks. In doing a quick read of a few paragraphs, I realized this is in my backyard. This occurs in Orange County, where I live. I am looking forward to listening to it tomorrow

I’ve gone through Serial, S-Town, and Dirty John pretty quickly. Murder on Orchard Street was boring. My Favorite Murder...I just couldn’t get past some of the comments those girls make. Not entertaining to me. Any other good suggestions?
