I feel like the era of classic chick flicks has come and gone, it seems like the only "chick flicks" these days have to be to be edgy or risqué. I just want an old fashioned Nora Ephron, girl meets boy, happy ending chick flick. Call me simple. I don't want to think...I just want to get lost for a couple of hours.

Reese Witherspoon starred in "Home Again." It was just okay, IMHO, but it did qualify as a chick flick, which is indeed rare these days. I also saw "The Big Sick" the same weekend I saw "Home Again," and I absolutely loved it. Highly recommend that one! DD, DH and I saw "Everything, Everything" but I'm sure it's gone, even from the dollar theaters by now. DD and I really liked it. DH was just along for the ride!

Does chick flick mean romance?
I saw Battle of the Sexes last night with friends and we all liked it.
The Big Sick and Girl's Trip are playing at the cheap theater here and I liked both (Girl's Trip is raunchy though - not everybody's cup of tea).
They are fluff, but I have enjoyed the Pitch Perfect movies and want to see the third one. And the next Bad Mom's movie like mentioned above.
Home Again is another one. I wasn't interested in seeing it and it didn't get great reviews, but it is a chick flick.

Seems to me there's a difference between a chic flick and a chick flick...

I just heard about this independent movie that sounds really good: The Florida Project Synopsis: Set on a stretch of highway just outside the imagined utopia of Disney World, The Florida Project follows six-year-old Moonee (Brooklynn Prince in a stunning breakout turn) and her rebellious mother Halley (Bria Vinaite, another major discovery) over the course of a single summer. The two live week to week at “The Magic Castle,” a budget motel managed by Bobby (a career-best Willem Dafoe), whose stern exterior hides a deep reservoir of kindness and compassion.

The Big Sick, and Home Again were both good. I really want to see this one, since I've seen a number of interviews with Kumail Nanjiani- haven't heard of the other one but will check it out.
