Dh planned a trip for my birthday this weekend. We made reservations, arrangements and cleared time from work. We were headed to New Orleans. This morning I got an email from Delta letting us change with no penalty. Dh was good to go but all I envisioned was flying all the way there and having no fun because of the hurricane/tropical storm. I pulled the plug and we were able to rebook everything to next weekend but I feel guilty for ruining his plans. Would you have rescheduled too?

I think you did the right thing. We're all concerned about Nate right now.

Absolutely did the right thing given the information you have at this time. I usually think that way too. I never beat myself up because I try to make the best decision I can at the time. Maybe because dh and I communicated through texts so it was all business and I couldn't hear the tone of his voice. I might feel better when he gets home and we talk.

Yes, I absolutely think you did the right thing. The trip wouldn't have been any fun in a storm but you'll have a much better time in a week in clear, sunny weather. Who cares if you celebrate a week later? It's not like you're a child who will be disappointed that your birthday isn't celebrated on time, right? I'm sure DH will understand. Have an amazing time next week!

Just spoke to him and he's totally fine with the change so I feel better! I'm glad to hear others would make the same call. I hate when my decisions after others!

Since you had the option to reschedule without penalty, I think you absolutely did the right thing.

Yep. I think you did the right thing. I would, though, plan something fun to do this weekend with your DH since his plan changed.

I did the same thing with hurricane Mathew and a trip with dds to Disney World. While it was disappointing, I think we were much better off.

You did. You were running with the chance of cancelled flights, and your action was pro-active. Have a great trip next week!

Yes, hurricanes, even a Cat 1, are not anything you want to be in. they are evacuating parts of the city, and while the downtown area would be ok, a lot of things would not be open

You did the best thing in the situation. It is very wise to postpone until after the storm.
