I've bought from checksinthemail.com--it's been quite a while, though. I do write the occasional check--property taxes is one that comes to mind. They charge 2.9% to pay online! Costco sells them--not sure of pricing, but probably cheaper than through the bank. But you might not want 348 checks at a time....

I still use checks due to exorbitant price of credit card transaction fees passed down to the consumer - mostly from local government entities. I order from Checks in the Mail.

My husband keeps telling me I need to order checks. We are almost out. I’ve been using one book for YEARS. I only use one per year! I think we will be okay. He usually cares about nothing, I’m not sure why running out of checks is suddenly on his radar.

I will always have checks for those random things. I only write a few a year though. Most anything you write a check for you can do through online bill pay with banks. The bank sends a check for you to be received on the date you choose. I write a check still to our pest control guy since he's a one man show, small business, and collects payment at the time of service. Our HOA charges a high fee for paying with a card (whatever percent or service fee they added came to around $25 on dues of $508) so I make payment through bill pay. If my bills aren't already automatic deductions, they're paid through bill pay.

We haven't had checks for about 6 years. There are times here and there when It would be nice to have checks but for the most part it isn't a problem. I've thought about ordering a box for those occasions but haven't gotten around to it.

I only use a cheque to pay for my Dads care home, they don't accept payment any other way. I find the idea of having to pay for cheques bizarre, the bank here issues them free of charge.

We write one a month, the rent. I am waiting for them to be online, but I don't think that will be happening any time soon...

I still use them to pay my annual property taxes and occasionally to give money gifts to my nieces and nephews for their birthdays. I bought mine at walmartchecks.com

I pay for school things by check because we never have cash ("mom, I need 10 for NHS by tomorrow"!) and my daughter's dance tuition (this is her last year). Once the youngest is done with school (2020) I don't think I will need to order anymore and I have enough to last till then.

Our HOA charges a high fee for paying with a card (18% I believe) so I make payment through bill pay. If my bills aren't already automatic deductions, they're paid through bill pay. I thought that checkout fees for using credit cards were capped at 4% (and they aren't allowed to charge a premium on debit or prepaid cards).

I write maybe two each month or so to small business owners who don't take any other form of payment. My pest control guy only takes checks. Plus, we are starting a bathroom renovation and they needed a check for the down payment.

I still write checks for my water bill (they charge an outrageous fee to pay electronically), bowling league, newspaper delivery person and various fundraisers for my Grandkids.

It could be that they called it a service fee or something. Whatever the percent or fee it amounted to an extra $25 or so on dues of $508. Our neighborhood Facebook group had a discussion about the high fee for the convenience of paying online with a credit card. I wanted to pay with my credit card to earn the points, but their fee was too high.
