First up, Robin Williams was on a holiday tour when Retreat began to play. Watch what happens. I miss that man. I got misty when he dipped his head for a few seconds. Robin Williams learns a lesson Last, yesterday, Trump and Hannity and the crowd talk and laugh through Retreat. I guess they think that's funny.Retreat custom Trump called out kneeling players to divide our country and because he is racist. Not because of respect for our military or our flag.

I'll admit I do not know any of the customs around Retreat and would not realize what should or shouldn't happen. But I *would* look to cues of those around me for signs of what to do, which is exactly what Robin Williams did.
Trump talking over it and even worse "are they playing it for you or for me?" is cringe-inducing. To be fair it looks like his audience didn't have a clue about what to do either, so he didn't have the same benefit Williams did, but still... It seems like the Commander in Chief should be at least passingly familiar with military and flag protocol and SOMEONE on his staff, from the military, or from Fox News should have ensured they knew what to do when Retreat was played.
It's embarrassing.

C'mon guys...you know Trump was right. He's the commander in chief, so whatever he does is what becomes military custom! Now that he's set the new custom, troops will be expected to crack jokes throughout the retreat, talking about how great they are. /s

no surprise there... from the Retreat link, here is the info about the music they were playing: "To The Color To the Color is a bugle call to render honors to the nation. It is used when no band is available to render honors, or in ceremonies requiring honors to the nation more than once. To the Color commands all the same courtesies as the National Anthem." --except if you're the Idiot in Chief, I guess. Doesn't he have someone on his staff to tell him the proper protocols for these sorts of occasions? oh, wait... he doesn't think he needs to learn that kind of stuff. eta: "what a nice sound that is..." "they're playing it in honor of Israelis!" (is that what he said? nope. pyccku set me straight-- "in honor of ratings." which is still a stupid thing to say, I think.) ...uh, DUMB, much, Donald? --although in fairness, I do have to ask: should they have followed the protocol since they weren't actually in view of the flag? it sounds to me like yes, they should have.

You're supposed to turn and face the direction of the music if you are out of sight of the flag. Heck if safe to do so you're supposed to pull over and stop driving on base during colors. A few years back there was a video making the rounds on the internet of military kids stopping playing on a playground during colors. And a dirty secret? If you're on a base/post and it's time for colors you will see some military members in uniform scurrying into buildings to avoid rendering honors during colors. The NFL protests are not about patriotism, the flags, or honoring the troops.

(I do try to forget that he's actually 'in charge' of anything, since we all know all he wants is the fame and the attention.)

They were at an Air National Guard base in Harrisburg. I'm pretty sure there was a flag there. They probably played the Anthem and maybe Hail to the Chief as well. I haven't been around one of Trump's gatherings, so I can't be sure how they roll.

Wow! Why was a live show even scheduled for that time?
I'm so tired of hearing about respect yet not seeing any. ☹️

He asked if they were playing it in honor of ratings. Then he asked "for yours or mine, because yours are going to be pretty good tonight."

One of the video comments pointed out that Trump attended military school. He should have known what was going on.

My husband's father and one of his brothers would have been just like trump. They both were cowards, who finagled their way out of service. They have no respect. We could not get the brother to take off his hat at Arlington. I WAS FING PISSED AT THAT.
Why are we surprised at anything this stupid troglodyte does?

I was surprised while watching the Robin Williams video (LOVED it by the way!) when someone threw that soldier in front of the stage his hat and he put it on. I guess if they're in uniform it's supposed to include a hat?
Trump and Hannity were both A$$holes. I know they were inside and didn't technically have to do anything, but to joke through it was disgusting!
Can we call him an SOB and call for "something to be done"? Like he's fired - PLEASE?

My father call his hat a cover. And I am pretty sure that they must have it on if they are in uniform. Someone here can give us all the details.

I deeply miss Robin Williams.
As for the rest, I've got nothing.

Remember when the right got all twisted up in their shorts about a member of the military having to hold an umbrella for Obama, until others pointed out that the Bushes had the same service performed for them? ?? Yeah, good times. Now we can laugh and joke right over vaunted military traditions while at an Air National Guard BASE!!! and Trump's boot-kissers will twist themselves into pretzels to make sure "it's no big deal" that the draft-dodger yukked it up about ratings over Retreat.

Well, he did suffer. Remember, his sex life was his personal Vietnam. I'm tempted to put this on social media, but people are fatigued by the everyday insanity that emits from the WH toilet (which is where I'm sure Trump tweets from). And the ones who need to realize that Trump is making a mockery of them by dividing the country over his false flag/country attacks are doubling down on their assertion that he is God ordained to be President.
