Hi I have a 2 year old 6S+ and it went from 33% to 1% battery in 3 minutes. I watched it drain in front of my eyes. I had only Facebook open for those 3 minutes and nothing else. Please don’t say it is dying on me. I don’t want to have to replace it yet. It still works amazingly well other than this. Help!

Do you have a lot of other apps open? If so, they may be refreshing in the background.

I had everything else closed and only Facebook open. There wasn’t anything else running at all.

That happened to me awhile back. I did a complete reboot and it seems to have worked. My phone data is backed up to my laptop so I didn’t lose anything.

Mine is doing this too, but I'm holding out for the price to drop on the iPhone 7 before getting a new one. It's the battery that is dying. You can have a new battery installed for about $70 if you aren't ready for a new phone.

Shut it off completely and wait five minutes. Start it up again. That might help.

That happened to my old 6S (just got a new 8) and when I googled the issue they said to just power off the phone and wait a few minutes then power it back up again. That worked for me and I didn't have to do a reboot/reset of the whole phone.

Mine isn't draining that quickly, but I have noticed once I did the OS 11 update, my battery drains way faster. I'm charging it 2-3 times a day now.

I hate that I did the update. I will take it to the local Apple repair place and have it looked at next week. I will see if it needs a new battery maybe.

power off, wait 5 minutes, power on - sometimes helps my daughter's phone
also - if it's constantly searching for wifi or signal...the battery will drain FAST...we went to GS camp two weekends ago where there's almost no cell coverage and everyone's phones were dying because of that

Is this just a restart and ait a few minutes before powering on? No, I did a complete restore (wiped out everything and then put it back). If you do this, make sure you backup your phone first. Have you checked under “Battery” in settings to see what apps are using a lot of battery? This may help you find your problem app. And yes, the new iOS does use up my battery faster than before. I have turned off a lot of things like notification.

I don't think they replace batteries...Turn it off for 5 minutes and turn it back on..also..Turn off Background refresh under Settings

The wifi at the hotel is good, though. I will see what I can turn off in just a minute.

That is a known bug in iOS. It is caused by a glitch where the battery is no longer able to get a read from the os on your phone so the phone thinks it doesn't have any charge. If you plug it back into the charger, it will go back up.
This is why I gave up on Apple products and went to Android!

I held off updating this time just for this reason. I'm still ignoring the new update. Back when the 6 came out my 5 wouldn't hold a charge. As soon as I upgraded to the 6 Apple recalled a bunch of 5 because of bad batteries. Mine was one of them. They replaced the battery for free but i'd already upgraded so that phone with a brand new battery sits in a drawer as my backup if needed.
