Holtz and Sizzix have announced his new product - and A Cherry On Top has it on pre-order -- the New Sizzix Sidekick all dressed up in brown. Now - I don't know what they are charging, but I'd sell my ORIGINAL RED Sizzix Sidekick and no one would have to wait .....now ..... I wonder where I put that little bugger?

I don't really see the point of it. Why the need for a small machine. His reasoning to get out a big shot is a pain. It's going to be the same for the side kick. You still have to get it out. Then it will be oh now I need to get out two machines

Then it will be oh now I need to get out two machines I think the point is that it's small enough you can leave it on your desk. It's cute, but I won't be getting one. I want one machine that does it all. A big machine and a small machine seem like such a waste of money and space to me. ETA: my Cuttlebug is in a cabinet next to my desk and it's really not a hassle to get it out to use.

Studio Calico was pushing a blue version for preorder earlier this year. At least it means there will be replacement plates available again! ;-)

I am looking forward to it, and I have a Big Shot on my desk. But, I think it's a pain to use when I cut a teeny thing. For example, I have the Lawn Fawn set with the piñata and candies. The die for all three candies is one piece and maybe a half inch big. Last time I used it, I had to run it through seven times. It felt like it took forever because I had to run the entire platform through seven times. For the size of the small one, it will probably be equivalent to running the big platform through less than twice surface wise. That's a time saver for me. I had already sworn never to do it again, but with this little thing I'll cut a million of them no problem.

There is also a white version that was released this year. SSS, Scrapbook.com, and Amazon has it.

The design + the colour scheme are giving me serious 1970s vibes though... It's (unfortunately) a little caca-looking, isn't it?

But it's brown, so now boys can use it

I didn't get a cutter until the original baby cuttlebug, which I still use. Is this Sizzix stronger? It is nice having the small machine close to desk, my big shot (or whatever it's called) is on another ledge.

I bought a new Sidekick about a month ago. I love it! I have a Vagabond and it's just so heavy and awkward when only needing it for one small diecut.

I think that there are plenty of carmakers who would love this size. I have so many machines. I just can't get another one even in the perfect color.

I can see the advantages, since my big shot goes on the floor next to me or behind me where I have to stand up and use it and I would definitely keep a sidekick on my table. Quite a few years ago I gave away my (red) sidekick and my original sizzix and sold my cuttlebug and I haven't missed any of them, so guess I'm good with just my bs.
Funny how the old stuff is coming back around, although I really hope it's because there are new crafters coming into stamping and scrapping. We need them to keep it going, since I buy a limited amount compared to what I used to!

If I was to get a Sidekick I would probably get the Tim Holtz one because I like the die set that comes with it. Too bad I am not thrilled about the color though.

I had one of these back when they first came out. I had the original Sizzix red machine with the lever (anyone remember those?) and I needed something to cut the Sizzlit dies they'd just come out with. Both of those machines are long gone since my Big Shot cuts everything. Since I don't go to crops I don't need a portable cutter so I'll pass.

I still have the original red sidekick. I sold most of my thin dies so I don’t use it much anymore.

I was surprised to see a Tim Holtz Sidekick. When I was looking at it earlier, I saw they have the white and grey Sidekick, and then there was a Stephanie Bernard version of it too. I think I still have the old red one somewhere in the house. Surprised to see them bringing this back, especially at around $50.00. The old one did not suction well to the table, and the one video I watched showed the new one not suctioning well either.

I still have the big red lever Sizzix (mostly for one die), I still have the red sidekick and I have the Big shot. They each serve a purpose.
I will say I was a little disappointed with this announcement as it is not really anything new.

The old Sidekick was a pain because it wasn't as stable. I got rid of mine. And I rarely get rid of anything scrapbook related.

I tried to sell my barely used red one for $5 at a scrappy garage sale with an extra set of brand new in the package plates, and got no takers. After trying to sell it at something like three sales, I think I might have donated it just to have it gone! I cut all of my thin dies regardless of size with my Big Shot, to me it’s less of a hassle than starting up my laptop and computer cutter if all I need is one little thing.

I saw people commenting on Tim's Facebook video what a genius he is for this when in reality he is only adding his name to a product that has already been out.

I have watched Mercytiara’s videos on you tube nd she uses a cuttle kids......I thought it was a good idea and looked at getting a Prizm.....but then I got an evolution and just keep it on a corner of my desk as it folds up. Don’t need another now.

I still use my daughter's CuttleKids machine. Remember that one? I got the Cuttlekids machine and some of the dies on clearance at Michael's years ago when my daughter was a baby. I actually just gave the machine to my daughter last Christmas now that she is older and likes crafts, but I have been using some of the dies for awhile because they are so cute.
