Thanks for sharing your pictures - beautiful. Can I ask some nosey questions? Do you run in to many other people while hiking? You said your husband hiked out for supplies - did you and your daughter make a camp and wait? How far to you usually hike in a day? Have you ever been frightened while hiking? Though beautiful-the solitude makes me a bit nervous. I could took at thousands of your pictures... My ‘hiking’ experiences have been the short popular walks at national parks. I also enjoy nature from inside a lodge like the Jackson Lake lodge or the Ahawhnee hotel. Hanging my head in shame.... This particular trail is like a highway - quite a few people. And we were going against the flow of traffic - most people were hiking north to south and we were going the opposite way, so passed a lot of people. Some nights we camped a little off the beaten path of the normal campsites and were by ourselves and other nights we had neighbors. It never felt like too many people, so it wasn't too bad. We have been on other trips where we didn't pass people on the trail for several days. That's not as common though. Yes - when my husband hiked out it was my daughter and I at camp for the day. We read our books, kicked around camp, and went for a few short walks. We met a few other people around the lake. I love the solitude (one reason we love spending time outdoors) and it rarely makes me nervous. We used to have a SPOT device (can send emergency text), but didn't renew our subscription as it's very pricey and we do more day hiking than backpacking. How far we hike depends on the trail - how much elevation are we going up/down or how rugged the trail is. This trail is very well constructed, maintained, and traveled - so we could cover a decent amount - we averaged double digits this trip. We have done other trips where it was harder, but shorter miles.

Your travel posts always give me serious wanderlust for additional places to visit. Your photos are stunning.
We recently returned from a trip to Namibia and had similar experiences there viewing the night sky -- so many stars.

As always your photos are exquisite and I love seeing them so much. Post as many as you want-for us it's never too much! I really love hearing about your adventure travel with your family. What a wonderful way to bring up your daughter! It's amazing to me to see how much little Pudge has grown over the years! She is getting so tall. I"m so happy for you that you had a great trip.

I saw that on FB. Amazing! I was reading more about him and his family. They have bought property in NM and plan to build a hostel for hikers near the continental divide trail.
